“Absolutely loved it”
Reviewed June 25, 2011

A trip to national parks made us stop in Spearfish. We were looking for something to do to kill an hour or two, and just down from our hotel was the DC Booth Fish Hatchery. We took the kids there and ended up spending half the day here, and the kids liked it better than Mt. Rushmore. I would definitely tell others about it - and it is free!

“Nice stop, and it's free”
Reviewed June 14, 2010

We stopped here recently with our kids ages 8,8,6. They enjoyed observing the fish in the underwater viewing area, and also feeding the fish in the pond. Then they enjoyed playing at the park next door with Dad while Mom checked out the museum:-). Not much to it, but it was interesting. They also have a really nice house you can tour (for free!) here, but since we were pressed with time I wasn't able too. It looked like it would be a neat tour though. You can also do a tour of a train car (again, pressed for time so I opted out), and they have a small boat on display. Plus you can look at the area where the baby fish are kept. Although I certainly wouldn't drive far out of your way to stop here, it's worth it if you happen to nearby.

“Great above water, disappointing below level viewing area”
Reviewed May 25, 2010

We stopped by here in late April. We had a great time feeding the fish and ducks. However, when we went to the lower level viewing area the glass was so covered with green slime that we could not view any of the fish. I realize it is not their tourism season, but was hoping that the attraction had adequate upkeep.
