“Nice Stay”
Reviewed October 14, 2010

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. Very comfortable pillow-top mattresses. Continental breakfast area very small and cramped, food selection average, although they did have biscuits and gravy. Main drawback is we were on the second floor and there is no elevator. We were traveling with an elderly man and a woman with a knee problem and negotiating the stairway was very difficult for them. No main floor rooms were available. All in all, though, a good stay.

We spent three nights at the Rodeway Inn and were very impressed! It is right off Interstate 90 and there is a small shopping center and restaurants next door. The hotel was very clean and cozy. We had a very large room with a king bed and a small sitting area with a couch. The room was very comfortable and very clean and quiet. The breakfast each morning was good. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home. The center of Spearfish was about one mile away. We would definitely stay here again when in the area!

Stayed here two nights. Nothing fancy but this is a nice and clean place with friendly desk clerk. Best thing was the very comfortable bed - I slept like a baby. Big swimming pool off the lobby but I didn't use it so can't comment on that. Easy access to the highway. Continental breakfast is nothing special (stale bagels and a biscuts and gravy). AC-heater unit only had a one speed fan (high) so was constantly blasted ith air.

Great three night stay. Clean rooms. Pool, hot tub and laundry areas clean and well manitained. Would recommend to anyone traveling through the area. Close to shopping and resturaunt and easy to find from Interstate 90 and from Spearfish Canyon Rd.

This hotel is overpriced. I paid $208 for two weekend nights and expected a little more. The beds however are VERY SOFT and slept great. If you like soft beds, you will like this place. The pool was decent size, but the hot tub wasn't hot, at least when I used it, it wasn't. I did see some bikers washing their bikes with the hotels hose, so they do accommodate as needed. The staff was very friendly, no complaints there. No fridge in the room, would have been nice to have. Breakfast was very basic, cereal, some muffins, and cheap pastries. Had two kinds of juice. The rooms were pretty sound proof, which is nice, but the hotel is small to begin with. I used the lobby computer to check emails and had a very comfy chair to sit in. There is a holiday inn across the highway which is next to Applebees. There is a Perkins next door to the Rodeway, and a Kmart.

We stayed at Rodeway Inn one night on our way home from Yellowstone. We had stayed here three years ago on a trip to the Black Hills when it was American Inn and had a good experience then, so we thought we would try it again. We were traveling with another couple so we booked two rooms.

Upon arriving we noticed the lobby and pool looked exactly the same as our first stay three years ago. This worried me because I thought the room could have use some updating then. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room. The carpet was new, the room looked freashly painted, the bedspread was new and the beds were AWESOME! Brand new pillow top matresses. Our traveling companions weren't so lucky. Their room was painted and they had the new beds and bedspreads but the carpet in their room was the original pink, stained carpet from three years ago. Definately needing an update there!

The breakfast left A LOT to be desired. Cereal and rubbery hard boil eggs, yuck. If you want a real breakfast, walk across the street to Perkins.

All in all a good stay. The hotel is clean and service was good. I would recommend this hotel.

  • Liked — Beds are awesome.
  • Disliked — Breakfast was horrible!

We arrived and were told we had no reservation, even though we had a confirmation number which they said was not valid! After checking some more they said we had a reservation for two nights earlier and were marked as a no show - we told them that we had made the reservation for this night, but they insisted we were wrong. The hotel was full, we went to the Super 8 and had great service - plus a nicer pool area! Do not stay here - go to the Super 8 right down the road!
