“Excellent Food!!”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

After eating out for well over a week it was great to have such a great meal. The steak was perfect, melted in your moth no knife needed! If you happen to be there on a Friday the Pear Flambe is a must(feeds 2), my husband had the Snickers Ice-cream he said it was the best he has had. We are still talking about it how good the food was!

“Good food all the time”

Consistently good food! I had wings. Hubby had prime rib. Although the portions are a bit smaller than they have been in the past, it was still yummy!

“Out of This World Buffalo Burger & Dessert!”
Reviewed March 25, 2014 via mobile

We ordered: a hummus platter, buffalo burger, a cheeseburger, and chicken linguine. We also ordered the chocolate peanut butter bar for dessert. The buffalo burger is the best we've ever had and was cooked perfectly to order. The French fries were perfection too-and we are picky about fries. CH's home made peanut butter bar was utterly, indescribably scrumptious. The pasta was good-but not great and the hummus platter was a solid good too. The grilled bread was served chilled and tasted run of the mill store bought. If we could rate CH 4.5 we would. The service was great and the restrooms clean and in good order. I'd go again in a heartbeat!

“Great food and and a decent look”
Reviewed March 23, 2014 via mobile

We stopped for a Sunday noon and I had an outstanding wrap. My wife had the carmel French toast which was like nothing she had before. I had to finish it for her. The menu prices we average for good food and it was good. Also Moriah did an outstanding job recommending the items. Also they have a great green tea - can't remember the name. Go for the great food and service in a family type restaurant. Oh and it was quick even though busy.

“Fantastic food-apalooza”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

TripAdvisor reviewers rate Colonial House eighth of 200 restaurants in Rapid City for good reason: home-style meals at reasonable prices. On the way to Mount Rushmore, we ate enough for two meals. The “Pancake Sandwich” ($9.99) has three hotcakes, two bacon strips, and two eggs on top, but you can request the combo separated, as I did. I prefer syrup to egg yolk on my hotcakes! Most egg dishes come with Buffalo Sausage. (As a writer, I researched the difference between buffalo and bison. Check out Wikipedia, buffalo is incorrect—the hairy prairie beasts are bison!) Colonial House’s signature morning meal is Earnest T’s Breakfast: three eggs scrambled with “lots of ham and American fries” and thin potato slices that are griddle fried ($9.99). Highly recommended! Server Terry was at the ready to refill coffee mugs, though she had the entire section of a crowded restaurant. Given most of the limited parking spaces were taken at 8:00AM, it’s obvious C.H. is a popular local restaurant, recommended by staff at Holiday Inn Downtown.

Colonial House Restaurant & Bar is located at 2501 Mount Rushmore Road, 605/342-4640 www.ColonialHouseRNB.com.
