This hotel is very easy to get to on the east side of Rapid City next to the interstate and has an amazing indoor waterpark for when my kids are with me.

This Fairfield Inn & Suites provides excellent service, a quiet location, and convenient access to I-90. The staff were attentive and courteous. The hotel feel new and is well maintained.

Still a nice place, still clean. Great pricing, and value. Heat worked well, it was very cold during the stay. I would say this is the nicest hotel in Rapid City.

Enjoyed the Water Park the first day - there were multiple slides including tube slides, and the water was warm;but be warned that the staff at the Park will not be overly helpful in explaining your options (day pass vs. family pass, discount available if you are staying in the hotel). The second day, we anxiously awaited the pool opening at 4 pm only to have a sign go up on the door at 3:50 pm saying the pool wouldn't be opening at 4 pm due to 'maintenance issues'. We went out for an early dinner, and when we returned around 6 pm, the sign had been changed to say it wouldn't be opening at all that night. Needless to say, a big disappointment for both us and a number of other people checking in. I overheard the desk clerk downplaying the disappointment of a family checking in by laughing and talking about her OWN travel disasters - not what they wanted to hear, I'm sure. On the plus side, the rooms were pretty good-sized and very clean. Beds were comfortable and wireless internet worked flawlessly. Only quibble with the room would be that the towels were awfully thin and skimpy and didn't quite "fit" the quality of the rest of the room. Breakfast was the usual cereal, toast varieties, waffle maker, juice/coffee, yogurt; but was well-stocked and plenty of seating space. Overall, a nice stay that was only disappointing because of the water park / arcade being closed, which judging from other reviews is not uncommon. If the water park is important to you, I'd check with the desk that it will actually be open when checking in; otherwise, there are a number of other hotels with indoor pools just up the interstate.

We enjoyed our stay here. We spent 3 nights in Custer and attended the Black Hills Powwow. It was great. The hotel is clean and the staff is great. On the second night, we had some noisy neighbors and the staff moved us immediately upon our request. They were so attentive. The breakfast was good and they have a waffle iron. There are a lot of kids here because it is attached to a water park. We didn't use the water park because it was mostly for kids and it was so crowded. The only thing they need to fix...they need new chairs at the business center. Two of them are broken. The chairs are so low and don't adjust upwards. You are almost sitting on the floor when you use the computer.

I was very disappointed with our stay at this hotel in July 2009 and I am typically happy with the Marriott brand. We were in the area to visit Mt. Rushmore and booked it a few days earlier online. The location is not convenient to any restaurants, shopping, etc.---you are basically at the edge of Rapid City and need to get back on the Interstate to find a place to eat. Perhaps if the room rate had been lower it might have been a better review, but the rate I paid was too high for an average room at a below average location. This particular hotel is an average hotel with a small water park (in a building) attached to another hotel. There is not much else around the immediate area. So unless you get a great deal, my advice is to look elsewhere.
