“Met Chuckwagon Expectations”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Food was what a chuckwagon dinner should be. The Buffalo roast was very tender and flavorful. Good portions. Didn't go away hungry. The entertainment, lasting an hour, was first class and involved the crowd. Felt like the dinner, entertainment, and the atmosphere was well worth the price of dinners. Kid friendly, especially the gun show and the pre-dinner pony rides.

“Great entertainment, not so great food...”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

The food was mediocre, at best. Served "chuck wagon" style, which is charming, but the food itself was rather bland and mass prepared. The cowboy singing and entertainment was very good. We also enjoyed the pony rides and panning for gold.

“Chuck wagon grub”
Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

We have had the chuck wagon experience before, in Colorado, and so were prepared for the "herd you like cattle" aspect of the dining experience. We have 3 kids, ages 4, 7 and 9, and the activities they have prior to the meal were very welcome to weary parents. There is a little gift shop, a lovely man who whittles and sells his creations (and is one of the sweetest old guys I've ever met!), a place for kids to shoot wax bullets at Tim can targets (extremely well supervised by another lovely man, $4), big tubs to pan for gems (free) and a pony ride led by yet another wonderfully friendly employee ($4). Then they break out the ice cold tub of sarsaparilla from Sioux Falls, which was perfect after a hot day. The meal itself was so-so. The beef brisket was hard and almost flavorless. My eldest got the buffalo, which was the best meal by far. Kids loved the biscuit toss at the end. The music came well after the meal was done, which is fine for most, but my kids-whose energy level runs from "highly spirited" to "omg who's children ARE those?"- couldn't handle the sit and watch behavior expected of them, so we opted to listen from outside. Music was quite corny, but I suppose that's the point!

“Not a great place for couples”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

The chuck wagon show was in a room with picnic tables that are very close together, so close it was nearly impossible to walk between with a plate of food, that you pick up in the back of the room as you go through a line. They threw " extra bisquits" into the crowd, so food was bouncing off people and children were SCREAMING to catch them. All this in a very crowded non air conditioned room was just not a good thing. At one point I leaned over and had to shout into my husbands ear that " this is really horrible" and he agreed. The music at the end is nice, after the children quieted down, but all in all this is not really worth the price you pay.

“Closed”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

Had planned this Chuckwagon Dinner for quite some time. Checked the internet and all their advertising for hours and dates and all said that they were open nightly til mid September. We went on Sept 11 and were told that the Ranch was only open on Friday's after the long weekend until Friday the 21st and then closed for the season. Their advertising does say that reservations are recommended but given it was September and not the middle of the summer I thought we would be okay.
