We stayed at the motel for three nights and the maids did an exceptional job making sure our room was fresh and clean when we returned each evening. The breakfast bar attendent made sure my daughter had the yogurt she wanted for breakfast, even though it wasn't in the refrigerator every day. The desk clerks were very friendly and helpful, and gave us a great rate on a third nights stay so we wouldn't have to drive home after dark in the snow. The atsmosphere at the hotel is very friendly and homely. It is a very relaxing place to stay. This is the second time we have stayed at the Rapid City hotel and would recommend it to anyone. Both times we have stayed, our rooms have been very quiet. They have soundproofing in the walls, and it really works.

My daughter and I had traveled from Sioux Falls to attend her father's funeral. The first hotel we stopped at was expensive and not what we wanted, the second one was this hotel and unfortunately it was full but the front desk attendent was great! Melody got us a room just down the street and reserved a room for us at her hotel for the following day. She was extremely hospitable, understanding and just exactly what we needed that day! The following day when we returned to the hotel we found our room to be more than we had expected it was clean, roomy and a pleasant place to lay our heads! Melody was a happy face and I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know and if you need a smile talk to Melody!

My husband and I stayed at the AmericInn from Aug. 19th to Aug 22nd. The hotel was very nice and the room was wonderful. We had a king suite and the bed was very comfortable. Ideal place to stay if traveling to Mt. Rushmore or Keystone, very centrally located. Hotel is about 20 miles from Mt. Rushmore and many other things to do along the way. The staff was very friendly and helpful with info. of sites to see. The only draw back is the pool, very small.

Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 3 nights (Thurs, Fri, Sat), clean lobby, clean rooms, clean pool area. Our room was average size but we didn't spend too much time there. Beds were comfortable but not great (my husbands back hurt after sleeping in the beds, mine was fine). Noise was very minimal and breakfast had a lot to offer (waffles, cereal, hard boiled eggs, muffins, donuts, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, toast, bagels). The breakfast area wasnt very spacious so we ended up eating in our room. Parking was fine, plenty of places to eat around the hotel (you have to try tePhilly Teds right across the road) and there was a very nice mini golf course right down the road as well (pirates cove). There is a walmart as well very near by. The only complaint I would have is the pool is way to small for the number of guests in the hotel. We were there on a weekend so I'm sure the hotel was full, but there was a ton of people in the pool. They had a great slide for the kids (our daughter is six). We were nervous to have our kid in the pool becasue there were so many people in it and other kids were just jumping in not watching for other kids. We actually pulled someones kid out of the pool because another kid landed on top of her and cut her head open (she had to get stitches) and her parents were not around. I had a hard time connecting to the internet as well, connection was only good in certain spots and kept going out.

We stayed in suite #200. It was well appointed and we had booked early so got a good rate. My problem is that the suite is located right above the checkin desk; the continental Breakfast kitchen and the indoor pool. In the bedroom it was quiet except every so often you could feel a shaking - like somethink we happening to the pool. For the person in the front part of the suite you could hear the people checkin out; the ringer from the waffle maker and peole talking beginning shortly after 6AM. Otherwise it was a very nice hotel and Leona at the desk was superb.

this is a very typical, unremarkable tourist class hotel. it MAY be fine when you stay. but for us, no. see my headline. awful! started early (6 am!) and VERY loud, hydraulic lifts, jackhammers, air hammers, AWFUL. impossible. they should have informed us when we booked or checked in. we left after 2nd nite, went to nearby hampton inn, vastly superior in many ways, not just noise. plus the americinn pool slide was broken and not fixed within our 3 days. no offer of price adjustment upon check out.
