It had lots of information about the area if you are interested. We went because it was cold and we didn't have much to do. It is just like any other musuem.

“Interesting museum, but did it try to do too much in the available space?”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

We try to visit a museum in the cities we visit in order to get an idea of the local history and culture. Whilst we found this museum good and there appeared to be quite a bit for kids to enjoy, the local history sections did not seem to flow nicely or give sufficient depth to each area. We are not really into geology and for us that section could have been condensed - probably a matter of personal preference!

“Wonderful Museum”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

This is a fantastic museum, a must see when visiting Rapid City. Takes the Black Hills from millions of years ago to present. The Native American part is wonderful. Loved every minute of it and the staff is fantastic.
