Our cabin was self contained, clean and very nice. The people were great to work with. The area was central to every place we wanted to go. We went to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands, and many other places.

We have stayed here twice in the past few years. The first year was during Bike Week 2009, and we rented the Deer Glen Lodge with four other couples. There was plenty of room for all of us, and all of our bikes. The garage is absolutely huge, and clean! The Full Kitchen and W/D made life much easier for all of us. The deck was a perfect spot for BBQ'ing and unwinding after a long day of riding.

The second stay was the week prior to Bike Week 2012 and we rented the newer lodge - the Lake View Lodge. Again the amenities were plentiful, and the separate Bunkhouse was perfect for my husband and I - we appreciated having our privacy while he was on leave. Although there is no garage at Lake View, there is a carport that had enough room for all of our bikes. Some members of our party were sidelined/hospitalized on their way to Sturgis from Oklahoma due to heatstroke, but the owners, Scott & Sherry, helped us so that we did not have to eat the total cost of the extra cabin we had rented for them.

The property is centrally located and very quiet, even during Bike Week. There are great trails and quiet roads to run on in the early mornings with friendly neighbors greeting you as you go past. There is also an abundance of fauna and wildlife to enjoy, including deer (and no, you can't shoot them)! Word to the wise: Don't park or stand under an apple tree for too long ;-)

Room Tip: To each their own, but I preferred the private quarters of the Bunkhouse, and the upstairs of Deer G...

Lake Park Campground! Rapid City, SD
Nice enough accommodations. Some furnishings and decor were dated. Bathroom was small, but adequate for 2 people. Staff not overly friendly, but always working hard at property.  Would not stay here again though, especially when traveling with others. Although plenty of living space in 2 bedroom cottage, no table and chairs for eating in a unit that sleeps 6. There is only a small and narrow bar by the entry door, which faces a wall and has only 2 stools.  Serves more as a utility counter than eating area. Would not be good for a family. Having stayed at many cabins, these were not as well equipped as others for the price we paid. Could use more in way of serving/cooking utensils and dishes. There is a nice gas grill and picnic table outside, but since it was 95-109 while we were there, eating inside in A/C was an option we would have preferred most of the time. Could not share meals inside with our traveling friends, because there was nowhere to sit and eat.  Good location in Rapid City for gas, groceries and everyday needs within 10 minutes. Easy drive to all landmarks like Rushmore, Custer, Crazy Horse, Sturgis, Spearfish Canyon and Deadwood.  Two hours to Devils Tower, WY which is a must see.

Room Tip: No table and chairs in cottage for eating meals.

This place had what you need. Its there in the city. the moving river off the trail is a great place to jump in and cool off as we did many times and many kids were tubing as well. the lake is ok but very shallow and the city park next to the lake has many small ponds to drop a line in as some fish are in each of them. I caught a bullhead and saw some trout caught in canyon lake park. the people running the place were nice, everything was clean, they had a small playground, horseshoe pits and equipment to check out of the office to play with. There is also a large grassy area behind the owners residence to play ball, etc. Nice place, may stay there again. For a little better fishing, go to Pactola Reservoir at Veterans Point day use area, the boys caught many small..very small bluegill and rock bass and I caught a small norhtern but it was still fun

First off, cabins are spotless...SPOTLESS! The bedrooms are big and the airconditioner worked like a charm. THANK YOU to whoever on the staff had the foresight to turn our A/C on before we arrived. We were late arrivals, so the key was left at the office door. The kitchen area in our cabin was small and a spot for a table wouldve been nice- living room area decent sized. The bathroom was awkward and layout was just plain goofy. The size of shower was very small and showerhead faced the opening so basically water was spraying towards floor, plus the toilet was right there. Funny thing is, the room was rather large and just didnt need to be set up that way. Slightly smaller bedrooms and more room in the kitchen area would be nice for the 2 bedroom cabins. The campgrounds is quiet, didnt hear any outside noise. The kitchen was well equipped. Also best part was the AWESOME bed in master bedroom. We had really busy days of sightseeing- hiking driving walking etc. in extreme heat. I crawled into bed and it was truly like a dream. The rooms were decorated very cute in the cabin theme.

Room Tip: Be ready for a great nights sleep- its quiet and oh so comfy bed. If you are a larger person, see if...

We recently stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin while in South Dakota attending a wedding for a friend. The cabin was perfect for what we were looking for. It was just enough space, had a kitchen, and the entire cabin was very clean. The shower in the bathroom was small, but the water pressure and hot water were much better than what I expected. I would definitely recommend this for people looking for a peaceful place to stay while in the area, particularly for a few days. Having the kitchen was very nice.
