Like the previous reviewer, we stayed at Town Hall Inn multiple nights the last week of June 2014. We chose it because we wanted something "interesting," instead of the busyness of some areas or the sameness of the chains. Beside the nearby "action" in Deadwood, there is not a lot of touristy things right in Lead, and that was just the ticket for us. Town Hall Inn was a reasonable base to visit Devil's Tower in Wyoming, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis, etc. The host brothers were very gracious and tried to accommodate us in every way. The rooms are well maintained and nicely decorated, respecting the historic character of the building. The temporary noise of construction was not an issue for us being on the second floor in the front. For the quality of the lodging the rates are very reasonable when you can pay the same or more at a chain and stay in a much smaller room with no "character," When you stay with brothers Mark and Paul at the Town Hall Inn you will remember it and you will be ready to do it again. If we make the trip to the Black Hills again, we will stay there, no question.

Room Tip: The Judge's Chambers is on the north side and will give a nice view of downtown and toward the g...

We stayed five nights at the Town Hall Inn in June 2014. We chose it because its location in Lead seemed like a good base that provided easy access to many Black Hills sights but was out of the hubbub of Deadwood. We also were looking for accommodations that provided something more than the usual hotel experience. For these points alone, the Town Hall Inn was the right choice.

Brothers Mark and Paul made excellent hosts. They have owned the inn less than a year, but are working on improving what was already there. The inn in person looks exactly as it does in the photos on their website. The woodwork is beautiful. The ceilings are high and make the good sized rooms feel even more spacious. The plumbing in the bathrooms has been updated and gave us all the hot water we needed. The breakfasts of fruit and pastries were light, but got us going for the day. I know there were other guests in the inn because I saw them, but once we closed our door we couldn't hear another soul.

The only thing to be aware of is that currently there is construction along Main St. In front of the inn, and traffic is rerouted behind the building. This made a little extra street noise for our room (the Deliberation room) on the main floor at the back of the building. Paul offered to move us to another room, but we were already settled in so stayed where we were. Just something to keep in mind when you're booking your room.

There's not a lot to do in Lead itself, but there is a grocery store, a handful of restaurants, and the Black Hills Mining Museum, which is a must for learning about the rich Black Hills' mining history. Lead is a close 3 miles from Deadwood, about 20 minutes from Sturgis, and an hour or so from Devil's Tower. And the scenery around Lead, especially along highway 14a, is among the most beautiful I've seen anywhere.

The Town Hall Inn is a unique property in a unique location. If we're lucky enough to come back to the Black Hills, we would definitely stay here again.

I very much enjoyed my stay at The Town Hall Inn. I slept in a king bed on the second story in a room called, The Vault. A very comfortable and quiet nights rest. For a historic building, it's always a concern of mine what you might find in the water closet. I was most pleasantly relieved ! Fully modern and updated with no shortage or variances of water temperatures. Ample free & safe parking. A great Black Hills location for every direction and a memorable venue for your memories.

Room Tip: I'm a fan of top floors primarily because I think they are quieter.

My husband and I stayed in the Mayor's Office for 2 nights in June, 2014. We so wished we had more time to stay at the Town Hall Inn. It's one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. The "landlords", as I called them, were very friendly. Our room was fabulous, very comfortable and beautiful. The bed was almost as comfortable as our bed at home. The linens were soft and plush, but bigger bath towels would have been nice. The Inn itself is very charming and I'm so glad someone had the foresight to save this historic building and make it into something useful. The only problem was that the city has Main Street in front of the Inn torn up to improve sewer and water systems, which makes getting there a little harder. But that's not the fault of the Inn's proprietors. If we ever visit the Lead, SD area again (hope, hope), we'll definitely stay at the Town Hall Inn. We highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The Mayor's Office was really neat.

We stayed at the Town Hall 3 Nights in May. The owner, Mark was great. Mark, John and Jade made you feel very welcome and was always willing to offer advice and any help they could offer. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here next time we are in the area. Everything is very clean and they have all you could want to feel at home. Absolute 5 star,We couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

In May 2014 we visited the Town hall Inn for three nights. We got the Library room with a nice King size bed and a good size bathroom. We met one of the owners Mark. He is a very kind man with a good feeling of hospitality. We received some useful tips regarding restaurants we could visit. He also gave us advice to visit the Spearfish Canyon and walk the trail of the Spearfish Fall. We also walked the Roughlock Falls trail which is a nice 1 mile trail for grown-ups like we are. There is a good launderette in the West Main Street as well which helped us to clean our clothes in a speedy way. We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend it to everybody who likes rooms with high ceilings and lovely carpets on the floor. It is a 1.5 hours drive to Devils Tower, a must when you like good size rocks. Rated 5 stars for us.

Room Tip: We only have experience on the Library room which is on the side of the building. Excellent room.

I stayed here before the start of tourist season in the Hills and really enjoyed my stay! The hosts were nice, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the hotel was well-positioned to get to most of the tourist attractions in the area. One thing that was obvious to me, however, is that the hotel is not very accessible to persons with disabilities - as is an issue with most of the businesses in the Lead-Deadwood area. The hotel is on an incline, and has several stairs leading up to get into the front room. This would be a problem for anyone who has trouble getting around, so I'd definitely be aware of that before staying there.

But, if you are able-bodied and looking for a unique, interesting building to stay in, the Town Hall Inn is a great place! Quiet, pretty, nice rooms with tall ceilings and great amenities. Definitely will recommend it to friends!

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room with heavy curtains, as the area is quite bright in the mornings and it may wa...
