I highly recommend staying at the Historic Town Hall Inn. From the moment we entered the place we were awed by the hospitality of the staff and the character in this fully restored building. Each room was well decorated and the cleanest of any place we ever stayed. Each room is named for it's former purpose and is displayed above the door. The rooms are extra large and filled with antiques representing the decor of the early days of prosperity in the Black Hills. The building is fully modernized with good electrical, showers, and air conditioning (which was important as it was 102 degrees outside). Be prepared for historic. There are not elevators but do take a few minutes for a photo op on the grand staircase. This has become our place to stay in the Black Hills.

What an awesome value. You will not find better service anywhere in the Blackhills no matter what you pay. Kelly, the owner, goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. He helps you plan your vacation and answers all your questions.
The rooms are all large and comfortable. We staid with 4 teenagers and they loved their room. There's no pool or elevator but you won't miss either. Give this gem a try.

We stayed here during the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon and it was the best possible place to stay. The Halls were excellent hosts as they are runners and know the marathon course very well. They shuttled us to the start and back from the finish line. Outside of the race, the Inn was a great place to stay. I really liked the history behind the 100 year old building. They are doing a great job of preserving the historic feel while adding modern amenities. It was a very good stay at a very good price and just minutes from Deadwood. Another thanks to the owners for their friendliness, recommendations, and sincerity!

We went on a family vacation just recently and we stayed here and LOVED it!! It was centrally located for us and was nice and quiet! Kelly was a great help for us whether it was telling us about the history or some fun places to go. If we come out there again I would definitely like to stay here again! The room was very spacious and had everything we needed, not to mention VERY clean!!! ~Meghan

My family (husband, kids ages 7, 5 and 3 and me) stayed in the Jury Room on the second floor. We arrived after dinner and left right after we woke up in the morning. The room was large enough for a roll-away. The kids thought it was a blast to stay in a building 100 years old. Even with the age of the building, the bathroom was large and modern. There is also a fridge and microwave in the room. There is a window air conditioner as well.

While this is not a five-star hotel (for example, there was no ice machine, but the staff let me use cubes from their ice cube trays in my cooler), it has charm, was clean and as many other reviewers noted, an extremely friendly and helpful staff.

We had some trouble finding a breakfast location in the morning (Saturday) open at 8:30 a.m., so we had to drive to Deadwood.

I'd stay here again if I visited the area.

Room Tip: The jury room on the second floor was large enough for a roll away and the bathroom was large.

Thank you for your kind words. As noted in your email the building is 100 years old this year and has some charming features such as 13' tall ceilings and 10' tall windows. We are especially happy to hear that your young children enjoyed this communities first Town Hall. We hope you will return and stay with us again! Kelly

My new husband and I were so incredibly lucky to have chosen the Historic Town Hall Inn for the two nights after we were married. The owner Mike worked around our wedding day schedule to let us check in early and even left a little surprise in our room for when we arrived after our reception. The room was clean and beautiful with very tall ceilings and a perfect view out over the open cut gold mine that lies just across the street. We were directed to breakfast at Spankies, which is also just across the street, and had a very large, super tasty meal for a very reasonable price. Overall, it was the perfect end to our day and a wonderful experience that we would recommend to anyone and everyone planning on traveling in the Black Hills.

Our room was the lovely Mayor's Office. It was the perfect blend of old time charm and modern conveniences. The high ceiling, full length windows and decor were fabulous.
We ate breakfast at Spankies across the street at the suggestion of the hotel staff. The food was great, especially the breakfast potatoes. The waitress and cook were so friendly and accomodating.
Would recommend this to travelers on vacation and / or business.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are unique and any would be nice to stay in.
