Great customer service, but terrible room! Hotel very outdated, peeling paint and wallpaper, bunch in carpet, sink strangely placed directly next to bed, initially advertised w complimentary continental breakfast, only to find this scratched off of their sign at the front desk. Would not stay here again unless there was no other option. Great diner about 20 miles away was the only upside.

Our family reunion had a block of rooms at this hotel for June 2014. I had made reservations in January 2014 and had confirmation numbers for our rooms. When we got there to check in, first the desk person said he had cancelled it stating we had made the reservation for the night before also and didn't show so he cancelled. This also happened to others in our family group. It was obviously his mistake. Then he checked us in with room numbers that were already occupied, luckily part of our large family group. He was very unprofessional and the rooms were rundown. The rooms were mostly clean and nice large rooms, but we expected more, as in lamps not having broken switches, chairs not being ripped and worn through. This is a large hotel and one of the few chains in the area. It should shine and have competent help. There is also a restaurant in the hotel which had good food, but the first day the waitress just walked out with a hangover and left the cook to wait on our group of 70 plus others. Our family assisted with making and pouring coffee and water for everyone. Food took 2 hours but was good. The next day the restaurant was back on track, but the desk people in the hotel leave a lot to be desired. Not professional at all. This place could be a gold mine (no pun intended), but managed poorly right now.

We chose this Days Inn because we were late in making reservations and there wasn’t a lot of choices left in Deadwood/Lead over the 4th of July weekend. It has OK reviews on TripAdvisor.

Big Mistake.

We’ve stayed at plenty of Days Inns in both the US and Canada and this one wasn’t up to their chain’s standard, even though it’s relatively new.

No amenities. None. Tiny bathroom with only toilet and shower. Sink is in bedroom. 2 double beds…usually means 4 people can stay there to me. There were 3 cheap towels, 1 hand towel, 1 wash cloth, one tiny (1.5”x1.5”) bar of soap, 1 tiny bottle of shampoo/conditioner. No hair dryer. No fridge. No microwave. A stripped down room. If I wanted to stay at Motel 6, I would expect to pay Motel 6 prices for the room!

Very Basic cable with only 12 channels. Yawn.

Bathroom was NOT clean. Hair on the floor, grime in the corners.

Sink was dirty/scratched. Very slow to drain. No drinking cups in room. 2 coffee cups.

Bedding was the only thing up to Days Inn quality, but not enough pillows on the bed.

Looks like construction people? Oil & Gas workers? Miners? are staying there on extended stays. Their wear and tear shows. No hotel maintenance, elevator broken with sign on it. Looks like it’s been broken for a while.

No free breakfast. Breakfast in onsite restaurant of 2 pieces of French Toast with 2 pieces of bacon was $7.99, with OJ came to over $12 with taxes and tip. There was exactly 1 family of 4 eating in the restaurant at 8:30am. I figure their simple breakfast for 4 probably cost about $50. (Breakfast menu items $7.99 -$10.99) No wonder guests go elsewhere. Way overpriced.
Free coffee in lobby, but urns were empty. Only hot water available. Asked about lids for the cups, was told they don’t have them. How can you take a cup of hot tea driving in the mountains (Black Hills, SD) in your car???

Many, many better options in Deadwood. Way overpriced. No amenities onsite, no pool.

Never staying there again, certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, let alone friends.

Note about Lead: They are replacing the entire town’s water/sewer infrastructure. This is a two year project. Avoid the hilly streets of downtown Lead at all costs! It is a mess. I can’t imagine it in the winter.

Room Tip: Avoid this dump.

Worst hotel I've ever been too! Yellow & brown stains on the sheets, a/c didn't work and staff is miserable, very rude and not helpful! Restaurant food old and nasty! Lettuce was at least a week old, had to throw the whole salad away. Don't waste your money!
