“Off the beaten track”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2012

Gets the traveller awayfrom the normal tourist route and into real American towns. After an initial problem finding the motel despite it being exactly at the written address the GPS appears to place it a few blocks away, still those back streets are interesting to see even if not asthetically pleasing.
The motel is well appointed with LARGE rooms. All appears clean and all the amenties aare here even down to eye make up remover. Parking is outside your room. Has a pool laundry etc and a restaurant on the same site, however their are three at the interchange also, nothing in the Main St eating wise at all.
All rooms are ground floor

Although we had planned to camp in Badlands National Park, thunderstorms and hail forced us to find a motel on the quick. The owner was rude, the advertised free WiFi didn't work, the free breakfast wasn't ready when advertised, the "breakfast" was minimal and awful (stale muffins, no coffee) and the price was absurdly high. Room was okay, but way overpriced.

When we pulled into Kadoka the Motels in the area were pretty rundown. We were worried! When we saw the Inn it was definitely the nicest in the area, but it was still a bit rough around the edges. The hotel staff was friendly, but kept to themselves. We were a bit worried what the room would be like, but it was pleasantly clean. The beds were not built for comfort, and the breakfast was mediocre at best. The town itself was pretty dead, and the only place we could find that was open to eat was a supper club across the street. If you didn't need to stay in this town, I would keep driving.

It's an ok hotel in general...
Pros:
Large Room
Free, fast Wi-fi
Refrigerator/microwave in the room
Large, comfortable beds
Nice bathroom (that's separate from the sink, so two people can use it at once)
Great place to go to if you want to visit Badlands NP

Cons:
Harder to find in dark from the highway
Filled with bugs, there were about a few thousand swarming the office
Rooms were quite Old

I bypassed the motels near the interstate and picked the Rodeway somewhat randomly, but was very pleased with my room. It must have been recently remodeled as every thing in the room was like brand new and spotlessly clean too. Free wifi worked great and the mattress and pillows were very comfortable. When I showered, the water pressure was awesome and the water was plenty hot. The front desk clerk was very pleasant, and I thought their rates very reasonable. Ice machine was fine, located in the laundry room, which was spacious and clean. The only negative in my room was that the air conditioner blows upward, it seems, and did not cool the large room adequately. A plastic vent director of some sort would probably fix that. It was fine while sitting at the desk by the AC, but the bed area didn't cool off as well. and the shower spigot needed to be caulked. Other than that, a very pleasant quiet and clean motel away from the interstate. I didn't use the pool, and grabbed coffee and a muffin at the restaurant next door, which is where the continental breakfast offered. My room had a fridge and microwave that I didn't use, and also an ironing board and hair dryer, also not used by me. The toiletries provided were nice too, even an eye makeup remover pad. and it's true what another reviewer posted, the parking lot does have some cramped spots but only a couple of them are really bad.

We had no hot shower in the morning. When we called the office we were told to wait a few minutes. The air conditioner took forever to cool the room and we could not open the window to just let the cool air from outside in. The continental breakfast was toast and stale cereal and a few muffins which were gone by the time my kids arrived. There was a nice laundry room which I did use. The staff was friendly however, and if need be I would stay here again.

After traveling for over 10 hours with temperatures in the nineties, one would expect to check in to a cool air conditioned room. The air conditioner was not turned on and located across the room away from the beds. Even with two table top fans, the room was not cooling off. When we complained, the lady at the lobby kept asking if we turned on the air conditoner properly. Not only was the room horrible but the directions off the expressway say three blocks on the left. We drove for what we believed to be three blocks with no hotel in site. When we called for directions, we were told to turn at the sign which was not three blocks. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to stay at this dump. Save your money and drive further on to Chamberlain. That's what we did. Best decision we ever made.
