“Great German food”
Reviewed August 19, 2014 via mobile

We were at the end of a three week trip and my husband said this was the best meal he had on the trip. He ordered the German Plate. My children and I all had salads which were very good.

“Twice as Nice”
Reviewed August 18, 2014 via mobile

We actually ate here two days in a row. It is that good! When we first arrived in Hill City and went to another restaurant one of the locals told us about the Alpine Inn. One day we tried it for lunch. We waited about 20 minutes or so for a table and about 20 minutes for our food. My husband and I ordered the French Dip and the Monte Cristo so we could share. They were both delicious sandwiches. My daughter ordered the spaetzle which was quite yummy. For dessert we shared the Napoleon and the Chocolate Tower. They were both divine! The following day we went there for dinner and had the Bacon Wrapped Filet dinners and more dessert. We did have to wait over an hour for a table but we just wandered around a bit and it is so worth it. So wonderful! I highly recommend this place.

“Excellent weinerschnitzel.”
Reviewed August 18, 2014 via mobile

This is our friends', who live in Rapid City, favorite restaurant in the Black Hills. We've only been here for lunch, but the German food is excellent. We had the German Plate and the Weinerschnitzel followed by a Chocolate Ice Cream Peanut Butter Pie. They were all fabulous! People start lining up early for their 11:00 opening on Saturday. We got there about 10:50 and had no problem getting a seat. We'll be returning next time we're in the area.

“It was okay....”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

This restaurant does a brisk business. Since they only serve two items on the menu at night (filet mignon and spatezle) and only accepts cash, their prices were affordable. $11.95 for either dish. So, we gave them our name and waited 1.5 hours. The steak was...okay. I've had better. It came with a wedge of iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing, and a baked potato. Average fair, but at a fair price. From the amount of people waiting for a table, you'd think the food would be outstanding. Here it is....the town us tiny. Not many choices to pick from, and for this price...well, it may be worth the wait, but I probably wouldn't have if I had other choices.

“rip off”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

The menu had 2 choices. One was supposedly filet mignon which was really a strip steak rolled up. There was a long wait--over one hour--largely people drawn to the faux filet mignon. So better to go to Desperados which has great bison roast and a better menu. Great service.
