“Great but beware!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2014 via mobile

Excellent delicious food!!! (Unless you are lactose intolerant you will not be having dessert... "cream, cream, cream)" German
Potato salad was superb!
BEWARE!!!!! Here is the scam part that disappointed ...
NO PLASTIC ACCEPTED !!!! Not credit card, not debit or credit, nada zero, zilch, it's cash or check that's all. But you can surely use their ATM for $2.25. The sign in the window and at waiting area to warn you of said policy is the size of maybe a license plate. I don't know of 1 patron around us that knew that til waitress came with bill. Ask a waitress how many times a day they say "we don't accept plastic of any kind" ?!?! It's almost deceitful they don't mention this fact til after you've eaten.
This place makes good $$$ for excellent food and atmosphere but for the price and in today's technology I don't understand not accepting plastic. I don't know a lot of people that carry cash anymore.
Definitely eat here but bring your piggy bank.

“Limited menu but well worth the wait!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2014

At dinner time they serve only filet (OR if you do not want meat, German dumplings). But the price is a bargain, $10 for a dinner with the smaller filet or $12 for the larger one, including a nice salad and baked potato. Delicious.

There is a lineup for a table every evening in tourist season ... about an hour on average. Unless you get there about 4:45pm as we did and get a table when it opens at 5pm. If you must wait, it's on their covered porch which is not a bad spot, right on Main St. Or in their bar; there was live music on Friday evening (and probably some other evenings).

There are numerous types of bottled beer, several kinds of wine and many deserts; we had the streudel and it was fabulous. Next time, we will go for lunch on their porch; did not seem too busy around 1pm the previous day that we popped in.

So, except for the wait for a table (most times) at dinner time, this is an excellent restaurant and incredible value. The staff are friendly and service is very quick. AND the restaurant looks small but there are many tables further back that you don't notice when you first look in.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2014

The steaks were awesome but the deserts were to die for. Loved the old feel of the place and just looking around at all the old history was worth the wait. Go early it fills up fast. Just feel like home. Friendly staff.

“Excellent German Food!!!”

Best restaurant in South Dakota! Great location and the schnitzel was out of this world. The kids meals are also very generous with a healthy, German influence.
