We knew menu was limited when we went, and we waited outside on crowded porch with some drinks for 30 mins before being seated. Food was good, ranch dressing was awesome. There is not a lot of good dining options in the area and this was about the best we had the whole vacation. Get dessert to go, bread pudding was delicious.

Very simple dinner service where you get a 6 or 9 oz filet steak with baked potato and a wedge of lettuce in blue cheese sauce for appetiser. There is a vegetarian meal incase. Cash only. Definitely the best place we found to eat in Hill City

We really enjoyed our lunch at the historic Alpine Inn. We both had the Monte Cristo sandwich and that was the best we have had in years. The service was excellent.

As a traveler, it is always nice to come upon a restaurant that serves high quality food and a meal that you think about long after you have left the restaurant.

While traveling from Mt. Rushmore to the Crazy Horse Memorial, we stopped in Hill, SD to do a little shopping and to eat lunch. We parked in the center of town near a school and the post office and asked someone who appeared to be a local, what was a good place for lunch? She recommended the Alpine Inn and I'm glad she did. The place was crowded although we were seated in the back room immediately. I had the special, a steak tip sandwich with a German potato salad and my wife had a large salad. Both were very good and hit the spot. My sandwich had a bowl of au jus like a French dip roast beef sandwich. Service was a little slow, but there was a very large party of what appeared to be local business owners in the back room with us. There was just one server for the entire room. She was gracious however and as efficient as possible I think, given the circumstances.
Be aware however that the dining room is 'cash only'.

You choice of a small or large fillet mignon cooked how you want it! Makes dinner simple and everything was timely and tasty. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Hill City! Great dessert!
