Creekside Country Resort
Reviewed August 23, 2013

it was a beautiful resort! we had 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 kids, and there was plenty of room! my kids loved the loft and had so much fun at the kids park and mini golf. it was in a great location, close to lots of attractions in the black hills. i would recommend this resort to anyone and everyone! we will be coming back in the future and the owners were very accomodating! the ice cream parlor was a very big hit with all of us and the cost was worth what you get!

Your review was refreshing! Thank You for your time and caring enough to let us know about your stay. I hope we do see you and your friends back again. We will look forward to that. A big percent of our business is return customers and that, in itself, is a big compliment. Again I thank you. Karen

Nice, well kept cabins tucked in the beautiful black hills with granite rock wall overlooking a calming, running spring. Four adults and our 6yr old granddaughter slept comfortably and the kitchenette had everything we needed to make muffins for our granddaughters birthday breakfast, we just brought a few groceries. Also has a wonderful playground with minature golf and a nice place to eat and everyone we talked with there were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying there and we will be staying again soon.

I have been to Creekside numerous times and I can tell you that the park model cabins are well cleaned and well stocked. The grounds are breathtaking, the food is great and there are things for a family to do onsite. The location is perfect for reaching all the things a person wants to see in the Black Hills. There isn't a mom and pop facility that could possibly be more cared for. The owners eat, sleep & breath their little chunk of the world and take very good care of their visitors.
Can't wait to get back there!!!

Pros: Clean unit, comfortable beds, 2 baths, functional kitchen, well kept property, assigned parking space, nice people.
Cons: Naming this a "resort" is just plain deceptive. Tiny modular cabins - less than 600 square feet for a 2BR, 2Bath. Very close to a busy, noisy highway. Tiny, cramped kitchen - much like a small camper. Smoke alarm goes off if you cook anything that creates a bit of smoke. Barely room for 4 average size adults to sit at the table. "Living Room" is about ten feet square. Ceiling in Loft is about 4 feet high. No screen door for the front door. Zero ambiance. Not a place you would want to spend time indoors. I cannot overstate how small and cramped these units are.

Would reiterate review by 1BZMOMSD on July 31, 2012. Was disappointed and wouldn’t recommend. Felt misled by the pics on website. This is not a Resort, Cabins are single-wide trailers and the pics make the single-wides look much larger than reality. Website indicates single-wides will accommodate 6 people, but there's only seating for 4. Only way there was enough room for all 6 of us is that our 2 smaller kids spent much of their time in the loft—which defeats the purpose of a family vacation. 2nd bathroom has no privacy; tiny, barely any standing room between the toilet and sink. We expected a resort where we could at least go for a nature walk, but entire property is filled with single-wides. Pic of Creek on website shows a deep, wide stream, its little more than a stream,; only thing living in it was minnows. If you look closely at the pics, you can see pic was taken on other side of fenceline that divides the property. We asked if there was any place to go for a walk and were told “no”. mini-golf costs additional Eight Dollars pp. DairyTwist closes 8pm; not very accommodating –if you plan to leave early or arrive back late at night you will not be able to “trade-in” your towels or discuss issues with owners. Headlights shine directly into your single-wide at night. Spiderwebs in LR and MB. Toilets hadn’t been cleaned in weeks; “toilet residue” inside the bowl, after each flush, toilet paper would remove a little of the residue, leaving a line where the paper had scraped against the bowl removing some “toilet residue”. MB bed was horribly squeaky- kept us up with every toss and turn . 2nd bedroom too far away from the AC; never did cool down at night

If you had brought all of your issues to us when you were here, that you now write about, we could have resolved many things. If the office hours didn't fit your schedule, I wish you had called the phone # posted in bold print in your cabin, and spoke to us. That Phone # is answered 24 hours a day every day. You could have paid a little more and rented a bigger cabin when you made your reservation and resolved a lot. Dairy Twist, Kiddy Box and Mini Golf all close at 8:00 in the evening because our cabin guests are our first priority. These are open to the public and by closing at 8:00 PM guest can enjoy the peaceful setting and quiet time. I'm sorry if your toilet had some hard water residue in it, that can happen if it sits for a couple of days between reservations. We will pay more attention to the issue in the future. We were given an unscheduled state inspection just a short time before you stayed with us and we scored 100% and they are pretty thorough. The public is welcome to this information.
I'm sorry you were so uncomfortable while you were here when we could have made it better, had we just known. There has never been another complaint about the mattress or we could have made arrangements to change it out. We certainly have eliminated the spiders. Had you mentioned the residue in the toilet, we would not have hesitated one second to come to the cabin and address the problem. I'm sorry you thought $8.00 for a wrist band that was good for your entire stay, included the Mini Golf and the Kiddy Box with 14 plus activities for every age was out of line. Some people take advantage of it and some don't care to. It requires a lot of upkeep to make it look and operate like it does. We chose not to add the cost on to the cabin rates because every body would pay for it rather they chose to use it or not. However we provide, at no cost, the playset/playground, basketball, volleyball, and footballs, baseballs, softballs, Frisbees, and soccer balls so our guest can play whatever they like in the big open 1/2 acre yard here at the resort.
Again I say, I wish that you had allowed us to make your stay more comfortable by visiting with us when you were here. We have so many happy guest and we wish you could have been one of them. We have a beautiful Ma and Pa resort with an excellent reputation and awards for our services. I'm sorry for whatever happened to make you see everything in such an undesirable way.
All I can say to the people reading this review and response is, Please do scroll to the top of this page and click on our pictures and look closely. You will clearly see a beautiful shallow mountain stream with benches to welcome you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings on our property. You will also see the picture of the living room arrangement and the dining area in a cabin the size of the one written about and it clearly shows that it seats 4. We invite everyone to look at these pictures closely because they are very recent and the show very accurately what our resort is like. Most of our guests tell us when they get here, that our resort is more beautiful in real than on the website.

We have stayed at Creekside Country Resort for years, we love it there. The cabins are well stocked, comfortable beds and relaxing setting. Our cabin had a loft, perfect for extra guests or a private reading area. Having the Dairy Twist on location is a bonus, for the times when you don't want to cook.We look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: If you want you own washer and dryer, ask for the Buffalo Camp cabin

I was so pleased to see the great review that you posted. These reviews help us a bunch and it helps the other travelers get a feel for our place. We enjoy you when you visit us because you love the Black Hills and are always excited about what you see everyday. Thank You for the tip about the cabin with the washer and dryer, however I think you got confused. The cabin with the washer and dryer is cabin #5, Deer Meadow. We appreciate you and look forward to another visit. Take Care.
