“Solitude, scenery, beautiful accommodations, and gracious property manager.”
Reviewed April 14, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

I needed a peaceful, scenic setting for a much-needed vacation, where my dog would also be welcome. Newton Fork Ranch was that, and more. The cabins are modern, with kitchens, and fully-supplied with dishes/silverware, pots/pans, and all the other essentials, and gas grills beside the cabins. My cabin was very clean, and the gas stove kept it toasty the whole time. The ranch is centrally located to all the popular attractions, but still private. Each cabin is also very private, unlike most cabin rentals elsewhere. Neighboring deer visited the property daily. The property manager was sincere, gracious, and accommodating. I will return, for certain!

Liked best: My cabin was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with an awesome view.
Liked least: The steps to the loft bedroom were short & fairly steep. They would be a challenge for elderly or handicapped guests. However, the couch on the main converts to a bed, as well.

“You'll love it here!”
Reviewed February 6, 2012 for a stay in September 2011

My husband & I have stayed at Newton Fork Ranch a number of times. It is a 6-7 hour drive from our home. We love the log cabin feeling but you're not roughing it here. No TV makes us focus on each other, reading, etc, or exploring the area. Just a short trip, about 15 min I think, to Keystone, Mount Rushmore, 20 miles to Rapid City. Lots of touristy stuff in the area, but we like to go for walks & enjoy the view, bum around & relax. Not a lot of shopping in this little town, but they are improving it. (Eat at the Alpine!)

Marianne was very accommodating when our first grandchild arrived just as we should have been heading north, she was able to move us to a day later with no extra charges. We've had nothing but wonderful experiences here!

A couple of minor items, the bathroom lighting could be a little better & the loft bedroom could be a little tricky for some, stairway to maneuver, low ceiling, bathroom is downstairs.

The Mickelsen Trail is right on the edge of the property, we often take walks along it, & every dawn & dusk there are deer grazing in the meadow. We love to sit on the deck & just enjoy the place.

This is definitely a romantic place to go. We've only stayed in Forest Haven & Deer Hollow, both have upstairs loft bedrooms - this is why I would not recommend for young children, elderly or disabled.

Great getaway from hustle and bustle, but close enough to be convenient to everything. The cabins and furnishings have had a lot of thought put into them so that it's just like (or better than!) home. The bathroom amenities make you feel like you're at a spa. The renters are extremely friendly and accommodating to requests and questions. Couldn't have been easier to "check in" and "check out". Little touches like Christmas lights on the porches made it even more adorable. Dogs will love the open field to play in and the deer to keep watch over. Great stay!

We had a great time here. Check-in was easy and the cabin (we stayed in the Meadow Song cabin) was fully furnished and sparkling clean. We stayed a week, and, while the cabin wasn't cleaned daily, fresh towels and toilet paper were furnished quickly upon request. I was most impressed with how intuitive the extras were...for instance, different baking dishes and food storage items, all the kitchen utensils we needed for any meal we chose to prepare there in the full kitchen. The location was quiet and convenient to all the area attractions. Absolutely wonderful.
