Description: Experience our award-winning wines in a fun and relaxed setting in the heart of the Black Hills. Find us three miles northwest of Hill City on Highway 385, just a few miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Crazy Horse Memorial. We’re Hill City’s only working winery and Sandi Vojta, our fifth generation winemaker, handcrafts each wine, often using old family recipes, just a few steps from our Tasting Room. Start your Prairie Berry Winery experience with a free wine tasting of up to five of our award-winning wines, including our Anna Pesä handcrafted traditional European wines, at our Tasting Bars. We produce a variety of wines in styles for every palate – from crisp, dry wines and robust, oak-aged reds to sweet, fruity varieties. Our Kitchen offers housemade menu items including gluten-free, vegetarian and kids’ options. Menu selections pair perfectly with our wines, vary with the season and many of our ingredients are sourced locally. Enjoy a meal on our patio with our beautiful views of Black Elk Peak (formerly Harney Peak). Our brewery, Miner Brewing Company, is located next door.

This is a big city bustling retail winery in a town of 900 pop. We got there a little before closing time and we were graciously waited on and given samples as if they had all day.
I asked for a stool to sit on,and they rushed off and brought stools for both of us,as if it were not a problem.
I saw no evidence of a restaurant, maybe because we were in a hurry.

This is a delightful winery with a lovely outdoor patio. After our tasting, we each had a glass of wind along with a cheese tray. We went on our own one day and with a tour on another day. Great wine, friendly greeter, great experience.

and talk about a surprise. We love great wines; none of these were particularly GREAT wines but the "schticky" names and the corny menus overrode that one little misgiving. The tasting staff was outstanding; they knew there products extremely well and were superb promoters of the winery and its product. The best name? Lawrence Elk. The "best" wine (based upon its unusual ingredients) was the one we bought a bottle of...can't remember the name but it was based upon juniper berries. Hey, it was creative to make a wine from juniper berries. Honestly, it was a good tasting wine, highly unusual, and fun enough to catch our attention. We stayed for lunch on the patio. Don't miss the lemonade spiked with the same juniper berry wine. The sandwiches were priced right, tastes outstanding, and the outside atmosphere was perfect for the day. I hope you're still there the next time we drive through. We'd LOVE to visit again...and we hope that others will stop and enjoy the fun from the great people who provided it.

We always stop here for some great wines. You get to taste 5 wines of your choosing. We like the Rhubarb, Poker Face, and Lawrence Elk. Great experience.

The reviews for Prairie Berry were great for food but the value was not there. The quality was great but small portions for high dollars.
