We stayed at the Hillcrest Bangor Erris last weekend and felt compelled to write about our outstanding stay. We were completely catered for and looked after for two nights from the moment we first arrived. Five of us stayed in the bungalow and all found it extremely warm and spacious, with plenty of living room. It felt as if it was home away from home. (The bathroom/ensuite were all extremely modern, which is very important).

We wanted to extend a massive thank you to the owners and highly recommend this fantastic guest house. We will be returning next year!!

Travelling to the far west of Ireland for the Cloontakilla reunion we had a grand County Mayo welcome at Bangor Erris's Hillcrest House. Comfortable roomy twin-bedded rooms, with showers, (very) full Irish breakfasts, optional evening meals, and even the opportunity to watch a major Gaelic football fixture on colour TV with running commentary (from our landlady!). Bangor Erris is a tiny town, but still offers three pubs with live music and dancing for the evenings.

After an exhausting walk, the Bangor Trail, we arrived very late at the Hillcrest House. But never mind, the hostess mrs. Cosgrove, was still willing to cook a delicously meal for our group of 11 starving hikers. Also she took care of our soaked hiking shoes so we could use them the next day dry for our next walk. In the neighbourhood there are several enjoyable pubs and there is a supermarket (for our picnic) in the same street. We stayed in Hillcrest House for 2 nights and it's a nice operating place to discover the area. The hostess is very helpfull and willing to support you. The meals (breakfast and dinner) are good and the rooms are clean and have bathroom.

Hillcrest House is what I would describe as a home away from home..... if my home was nicer!

The house is a very well maintained house right in the village of Bangor. It's starts in the well kept garden and continues right through the house from the living room, to bathrooms and bedrooms. It's clean, warm and very welcoming.

The land lady was brilliant, looking after us completely. She even chased us 20 mins down the road in her car after she found I had left my USB key in the room. Surely that's worth a 6 outta 5?!

Bangor was great. We visited each pub for a drink and they were great. It was a shame it was such a fleeting visit because I would have liked to spend more time in the area. This corner of Mayo is beautiful. It has bog, coast, lakes and wide views of the surrounding hills and mountains.

I'll definitely be back up in Bangor again and without question I'll stay in Hillcrest House.

We stopped in Bangor during a cycle trip around Ireland and received one of the warmest welcomes of our trip from Evelyn the owner. Our rooms were very clean and warm. Evelyn told us she gets alot of repeat business from fishermen coming to the area every year and I can understand why. The B&B is located on the main st of town and our host was a mine of information on the local area.
