We decided to stop off at the pub on our way to Hereford on Saturday 11th June. The real ale was excellent (and i am a pain in the bum about getting good real ale). My wife had a home made steak and ale pie with a suet pastry which she really enjoyed. I had a special of the day, the cod and salmon fish cakes with dill sauce, an excellent salad and obviously home made chips which were delicious. The service was attentive and friendly.

I live locally to the castlefields and it's always the first place i try when booking a table for a meal. The atmosphere and decor are wonderful and the staff are very helpful and polite. The food is delicious and there is always something on the specials board!
If you like good food and BIG portions, then this place is for you. Tasty, satisfying and very good value for money!

Our 4th visit and quite possibly the worst meal the 3 of us have had as a group. We arrived to be greeted buy a very busy restaurant which should be a good sign.My husband had the cheesey mushrooms to start my daughter and i had the sharing platter. Not much to go wrong here as al lobviously deep fried from the packet. Our main meals consisted of a mixed grill not too much wrong here although very dry and slightly over cooked and strange black mushrooms! Next was duck in orange sauce which was very dry bordering on tough with a "baggy" skin and then steak. Why ask how you would like it cooked and then totally ignore the customers request which in this case was rare and if possible the rare side of rare not the medium side.It was medium bordering well doneThe chips which i was informed were personally cut by the proprietor that morning had obviously been cooked in old oil and were truly sqidgeley awful and the pepper sauce which was an extra was tasteless. The steak was consequently removed from the bill. The proprietor needs to understand that feedback should be taken as such and that sometimes the customer may have a small point that was worth making!

I have been to this country inn on many occasions and have always had a fabulous meal and have enjoyed every visit. It is by far one of my favourite place to eat. It is always busy and popular with the locals, The food is great and not too expensive. The staff are friendly and atmosphere it great. You have to book a table at the weekend as it is so popular. I would recommend it to all!!!
