Big enough for two?
No, it's not a real fire although it can get hot
Looking out across the millpond from the kitchen
Stormy skies over the millpond
The mill gardens can also be stunning in deepest winter
Frosty river at the Mill
Sunset at the coast

“Lovelly Cottage”

Stayed here in June 2018, had amazing weather all week. Luck enough to see the Kingfisher on the first day but never saw it again..plenty of Herons and Deer though. The cottage itself was very nice and comfortable with everything you would need. The bedroom was above the lounge and overlooked it. The view from here and the lounge was great, looking across the Mill pond, so you could sit and just watch the wildlife.
The only downside was the toilet/bathroom was on the ground floor so you had to negotiate the stairs in the dark...bring a torch..however this was a small problem.
The owners were lovely and we really appreciated the tour of their house, which was fabulous...especially the fireplace and view through the floor to the water surging through the mill.
Must also mention the pub which is at the end of the drive, the Walpole Arms-fabolous meals..we went twice for a meal and further times for a drink..food was excellent.
Would also recomend a visit to Mannington Hall, nearby, lovelly gardens, walks and lots of wildlife.

Hi Jon
Thanks for your review. We do provide one of those wind up torches for guests. I think we will update the description of the cottage to make it more clear that the toilet and bathroom are downstairs from the bedroom. Unfortunately its a feature of the architecture so not a lot we can otherwise do about it.

If you like wildlife this is for you! The cottage is a little dated internally but has everything for you to have a perfect stay. The owners gardens are fantastic and the cottage faces the lake and here we saw Mother and baby Deer, Heron, Igrit, Owls and many more. Recommend the Bure valley railway from Aylsham which we decided to take one way and we then walked the 9mile back from Wroxham. We downloaded the Blicking Hall walk another 7 mile and had a fabulous Sunday Lunch at the Blackboys In at Aylsham.
Thank you for a fabulous stay.

Thanks for your kind review. So glad you enjoyed what we have to offer. We are trying to address the fact that the Cottage may appear a little dated. It has been completely redecorated last winter and we have replaced the carpet and sofa in the sitting room this year and installed the dishwasher. Our clientele tends to be retired folk and they invariably find it “homely” so it’s difficult to meet all expectations regarding decor.

Ideally situated for exploring Norfolk. Peaceful location, just the sound of the river.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming but not intrusive.

“Spacious and comfortable”

We were attracted to Kingfisher Cottage because of its location. The accommodation is situated close to the millpond and the mill where the owners live. Although it is adjoining another cottage (Swallow), inside there is plenty of comfortable, living space with a separate, well equipped kitchen and a double bedroom on a mezzanine. The owners left £5 towards electricity for the heating and apart from having to monitor the meter, this worked out ok as we were out for most of the time we were there. We appreciated the daffodils, the plum cake, milk and sachets of tea and coffee left for us and although the owners were away they left us very clear instructions about accessing the property with a welcome note. Communication with the owners via Trip Advisor was excellent throughout.
