The room was great (comfortable bed, nice bathroom, etc.), the pool area is large and great for kids, the food at the main restaurant was tasty, and the casino was fun, too. Parking/getting to the room is a bit odd (you park, cross the walkway, go into the casino, take an elevator up to the hotel, then another elevator to your room) but the location (basically at the end of main street) means you can walk from the hotel to most places.
Some of the places we visited in Deadwood (at least those related to the casinos) were not as friendly as we'd hoped. This casino was a pleasant exception--everyone we came into contact with here were as nice as can be.
I'm also impressed the designers/builders of this property went with the historically-accurate footprint and design of the building originally in this spot as opposed to a potentially more-aesthetically-pleasing exterior. They even have pictures hanging around the hotel to show the original building. Don't let the sheet-metal exterior fool you--this hotel/casino is very nice inside and the exterior simply honors the past. Well done!
