The rooms with the indusrtrial floresenct lights made you feel like you were in a hospital room. Sink was right next to the bed. For the money, go as far away from this place as you can.

We were happy that there was 1 hotel in town that takes dogs. However, they put the dog people in rooms so far away with many many stairs and the cars are parked far away. They do offer transpertation from your car but the rooms are so far upstairs that by the time we dragged our luggage up, we were too tired to see the town. We stayed another day. The food was reasonably priced 79 cents for breakfast and the slots were fun. The rooms are very motel 6, not fancy but did the job.
The only place to take your dog out was dirt and gravel and a hike again from our room. This made potty time at 4 am very cold, 34 degrees.
The price of the rooms with our AAA discount was only 40.00 + 10.00 for the dogs. Not too many places in town had drive up to your room parking as space is limited in this town, and they did not take dogs. The AAA guide states they want 50.00 fee for your dog, but it is not correct. It was only 10.00 for both our dogs.
If you dont travel with dogs all the time like we do, you will have many more choices of convienent parking for the hotel you choose. There are over 80 casinos, they are not like Las Vegas, in that they only have 2 table games. But lots of slots to keep you busy.
So much to see in this town, I recommend it and we also love the show Deadwood so we enjoyed the town history.

We stayed here many times. The beds in the new terrace are the best! The people are more than friendly! I needed to send this in light of our last trip to Deadwood. Being Kool Deadwood nights, the place was packed and we had our boys,(ages 10 and 12) with us. We stopped here on the way home, a 3 hr drive, as I love to go there to play. Unfortunately, our '55 decided to lose it's starter! It was a Sunday aft. and my husband was off vacation at midnight and the boys had school. The maintenance man and security man helped us to get on the road again. They jumped it, brought tools, tried to find an open parts store,(even in a nearby town), and went out of their way to fix the problem. They even took starters off other vehicles AND the owner let us take his starter off his personal van, and if it didn't work he was going to let us take the van home and return it. I will be forever grateful and will try to stay there next time! Make your reservations early!!

I had never been to Deadwood before and was unsure what to expect, but we were treated very well here. The rooms were clean with a comfortable temperature and atmosphere, the food was wonderful, and the staff VERY polite and helpful. We actually stayed at the Terrace, but it was a very pleasant experience all around. It only took us a few minutes to walk downtown (we declined the trolley, but was nice to know it was there if needed), and we really got a chance to see the town. We will defineately be back!!

We stayed at 1st gold hotel upper for our honeymoon. The reason being they allow pets, I wasn't sure if we had to bring our dog and this was of the only places for pets.Location is not the best if you very want the deadwood experienced. It was nice,But nothing fancy. The only concern I had was if we woould have brought the dog there was NO GRASS and where close to hotel for her to go.I really wish other hotels would allow pets with a nice area for them,Most of us treat our pets as people and would love for them to be able to travel with us,Looking forward to are next trip to deadwood in Sept.
