“Great Stay, But do not eat in the restaurant located inside hotel!”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

Welcome reception for our motorcoach group which was very nice. Hotel very clean, personnel very nice especially those taking care of the breakfast room!! The restaurant located in the hotel is not a part of the Hampton Inn chain, so save your money and go elsewhere. We are a motorcoach group and some of our passengers ate here, they said they should of listen to the people who were leaving upon their arrival, who stated save you money!!

Great location. Good service. Great complimentary breakfast! In walking distance of a lot of attractions in deadwood! Hotel was clean and modern! Comfy beds! It was quiet place to stay. Easy parking across the street. Would stay here again!

The Hampton Inn in Deadwood SD is a fantastic place to stay. You are in downtown Deadwood and centally located for visiting the entire area. The rooms are well appointed, clean and very reasonably priced. the staff was very friendly and helpfull. I met several frinds and we road all of the back roads of the area. The staff was a great help with our rout planning. I would highly recomend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

Let me start with the good. The location is excellent, the hotel is very nice (altough not as "luxurious" as other Hampton's inns we have stayed at). Front desk staff on arrival was not unfriendly, but again not quite to par with the traditional Hilton hospitality. Valet parking, both gentlemen were very nice, but the gentleman on during the daytime (sorry, did not catch his name) went beyond his duties and helped us out with a referal to an excellent mechanic and an awsome restaurant! Kudos to him.
The suite was very spacious and well appointed and the refrigerator and microwave were great to have. The breakfast (free!) had a good selection of items and the lady running it is a sweatheart.Kudos to her also! Now for the less good. The front desk staff needs to be retrained in hospitality and service. We returned one night and found our room had not been cleaned. Granted it was after 11 pm, however to be told by front desk that she had " just clocked out after a 10 hour shift " and that we could bring it up to management in the morning since this was not her problem did not sit well with me. Eventually the next person on duty brought us fresh towels, but could not do anything else for us that night. She was nice and an exception to the rest of the frontdeskers.. The next day we were offered free dinner at the hotel buffet for compensation. ( at about $12 per person in contrast to the over $200 per night for our suite). We declined this and asked for a one night refund. ( still pending at the time I am writing this). Now we use Hilton/Hampton hotels often when we travel. The fact that we had to ask for the refund instead of being offerd one is not what we are accustomed from this chain of hotels. I found that the front desk staff lacked in friendlyness. When you walk ino the lobby, you expect to be greeted, but most of the time there was no greeting at all. Would we stay at this hotel again? I am not sure. The location is good, the room was good, but the first impression of the front desk ws less than stellar.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Mainstreet!

We just finished a three night stay here and loved it. The location is awesome and we were able to walk right down Main Street to every place we wanted to see. We also caught the Deadwood Trolley right out front, where for $1 you can ride up and down all of Deadwood and get out at numerous sites. Great way to see all of Deadwood, but honestly, we walked everywhere it was so close. Breakfast is great and the woman who runs the breakfast room is charming and wonderful! Desk staff is great and the rooms are cozy and clean. I love the Hampton bedding! Buffet in casino was pretty good, too. Free parking is great, only drawback is that it is a very small lot across the street about a half block down. When we first pulled into the lot we were a bit confused - but it runs along the side of the mountain there and we never had trouble finding a spot. Some folks park parallel during the narrow stretch, but if you keep going around you see a longer stretch with cars parked on each side. Hard to believe none of the rocks jutting out of the mountain ever fall down onto cars! But we were fine and the car was safe! Had a wonderful time here!

Nice clean hotel in the center of the action in Deadwood. staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed only 1 night on my way through and glad I chose this one. I had no nnoise issues but was there off season and town was dead.... (get it ...dead?) . glad Starbucks served. Casino convenient and dining readily available... Would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: the first 2 weeks of August are Biker weeks and town extremely busy. Make reservations early for tho...
