Slime Plant Lounge
Price range: $10 - $20
Cuisines: American, Pizza
Description: Why did we name our bar the Slime Plant Bar & Lounge? In a word, gold. In mining terminology, the liquid mix of gold ore and water is called slime. Back in 1906, the Deadwood Mountain Grand building was constructed as a plant to eke gold from the slippery slurry pumped from the Homestake Mine in Lead. For seven decades, locals called this Deadwood landmark "the Slime Plant." So with a tip of the glass to the mine workers of Deadwood's past, we named our bar the Slime Plant Bar & Lounge. With the comfortable, upscale surroundings, relaxed atmosphere and live entertainment at today’s Slime Plant Bar & Lounge, those miners wouldn't recognize their former workplace. So when you sit down for a cool drink at the Slime Plant Bar & Lounge, raise a glass to the hard-working guys who once made their living here.

“Good Pizza”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

We ate at the bar on a Tuesday night. The special was $8.00 three topping pizza. It was very good. The bartender was very friendly and easy to take to. We both had a glass of wine which was good and reasonably priced. I would recommend it if you are in the area.

“Horrible new staff”
Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

I came in and ate the other day with my grandmother and it was in the actual restaurant at the grand.. not the bar.. anyway ive been hearing from ALOT of people around deadwood that the new management staff is horrible and they have been having issues with keeping people employed.. now I see why and would sadly have to agree. I noticed there was this lady walking around the dining room being completely unprofessional, speaking rudely and didnt even look welcoming by any means. The way she talked to her employee baffled me.. so Because she was dressed differently than all the waitresses, I ask our waitress what the lady's position was in that dining room, and she tells me restaurant manager.. I couldn't believe that the person in charge of that restaurant was acting very unprofessional.. and looked angry. To run a good restaurant, you need good and welcoming management at least!

“A luncheon out”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

The atmosphere is cool--it is amazing to consider what this remodel has accomplished! The food was ok....nothing memorable. Pricing was consistent with the Deadwood area--a bit higher than what would be expected for the food.

The bar tender we met was very nice and made great conversation! Drinks were well priced and the only bar that has Disaronno available!

“Free Parking, Expensive Drinks”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

We went to the Slime Plant Bar to check out this newish casino in Deadwood. It's nice to be in a fresh new casino, kind of unusual in this town. Parking was free, staff was friendly, but after one $9 Windsor Coke apiece, the boyfriend and I hoofed it out of there. Yikes!
