This was our second time in a row and would go back again. Staff is friendly and helpful. We did the tour and the panning it was worth it.

“If you have an hour and want to see a mine, good place”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

On our way out of Deadwood, we saw this attraction and thought why not, let's see it. Our entire family was there. we're in our 30s, kids 14 and 8, and my parents in mid-60s, so we had all age groups in our group. It was interesting to see the mine and the conditions and what they went through. It was really neat to see the pitch black working conditions when the lights were turned off. It is a small mine, so there wasn't that much to go through, but it was a nice experience. The cost wasn't that bad, so it made it affordable.

Myself and my two kids did the gold panning afterwards. You get a bag of rocks with some gold flakes in it guaranteed. It's interesting if you've never done it to see how it's done, but it's not like you are out there digging in a gold-rich area, and actually continually panning. But it's nice to do once and say you did it, and you get to keep the flakes in a vial which is a nice souvenir and interesting discussion piece.

“Very interesting!”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

I have lived here 10 years and finally went to the mine with my sister-in-law. I was not disappointed. The tour guide was very patient, answered questions and was knowledgeable.

Small mine with friendly staff. We enjoyed the tour but would skip the gold panning as it was a bit of a joke.

“Great Activity”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

This is educational and interesting for the whole family. The tour of the mine was fun and the guide had great information. The price is good and for a little extra you can pan for some gold which was a great addition after the tour. Every person who tours also get a certificate that says they own a little piece of the mine which is a great memento to bring home and remember the trip by. I would defiantly recommend spending the time here the tour is short so it will not take away from the other activities available and defiantly worth the price.
