“Nice Place to Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

The manager and night clerk were very nice and helpful. We loved the lady who got breakfast ready--so friendly and good at her job!
As to the hotel itself, it is a nice place to stay, if you can't stay downtown where the "action" is. There is a trolley stop at the hotel, and it costs $1 every time you get on. It takes about hour to ride the entire loop, which includes all of downtown.
Our room was clean and comfortable. We would stay here again.

The place was nice, reasonable and had a casino that paid ! (We play small stakes) Not enough for the room. The room was nice the motel had your typical motel breakfast. (No problem) Convenient to downtown and "Boot Hill" Stayed one day and got out of Dodge, er, Deadwood. A nice little town with a days worth of history with the likes of Wyatte Earp and Calamity Jane.

The Good Things--The staff was very good.

The Bad Things--We were disappointed with the Comfort Inn in Deadwood, SD. Our room were dated and dingy and not nearly as clean as it should have been. We found hair all over the bathroom floor when we arrived, and the sheets in one of the queen-size beds in the room didn't look like they'd been changed. The hall is narrow and poorly lit. The hotel isn't very convenient to downtown. The breakfast had fewer choices than it should have, and the waffle iron wasn't working well when we were there. This hotel, like all the others in town, had a casino, which is right next to the lobby. So the lobby is noisy from all the gambling machines

And, what can we say, The hotel was a reflection of the whole town. Tawdry. So, if you are big gambler, go to Deadwood. Otherwise, stay away.

This hotel as soon as I walked into the lobby was just great! The hotels consits of a casino, and a small arcade, with go carts and bumper boats out in the back of the hotel as well. The service of all staff was very nice and made us feel welcomed. As far as room, it's just simply beautiful and updated, along with the whole hotel in general. And then of course the free continental breakfast in the morning is very nice as well (hot breakfest). I would definitely stay here again at this location. No dissapootment at all.

Check in was fast, hotel was easy to find, room was clean and comfy. You had to walk through the breakfast area in order to get to the rooms which seemed weird. The casino in the lobby took my money as well as any other :) The Arcade/ Gulches of Fun area was closed when we were there due to the Sturgis bike rally I believe, but that wasn't a problem for us as we didn't have time to do that stuff anyways. The pool was small but there was only a few people using it when we were.
It's not that close to downtown Deadwood so walking there is out of the question, but a short drive will get you there with plenty of parking.
The Breakfast room was good, with a good selection of foods. The lady working in there was very friendly.

Room Tip: If you aren't there for Sturgis, don't stay there during this week. Prices are almost triple...

Before reviewing, let me say...I should have stayed away from the casino! ;) There were 6 in our party, 3 adults and 3 children. The rate was a bit higher than I had hoped to pay, even with our senior discount, but it wasn't outrageous. We had suite with 2 Qbeds in the bedroom and a pull out Q in the living room. The room was very clean and elegant. It had good internet, a small fridge and a micro wave. There was an indoor pool that my grandchildren enjoyed, as well as a hot tub. As I mentioned above, there was a small casino just off the lobby. Breakfast consisted of cereal, oatmeal, bagels and cream cheese, toast, cinnamon bread, mini muffins, hard boiled and scrambled eggs, sausages, biscuits and sausage gravy, waffles (regular and chocolate) yogurt, oranges, apples, bananas, juice, coffee, tea and cocoa. There was a large seating area. We had no problem finding a place to eat. I loved the place and would definitely stay there again.

We are so glad you were able to enjoy one of our new deluxe queen rooms! We have just done some remodeling in those rooms and are happy you enjoyed the spacious amenities. Staying with us in the summer is the way to go so that the adults can enjoy the casino and the kids can enjoy the fun park. As you mentioned we do have a hot deluxe continental breakfast that has many different items to offer. Thank you very much for commenting and we can't wait to serve you again on your next trip to Deadwood!

When we arrived at 3:30 p.m., we were given room keys to our suite and proceeded upstairs. When we walked in the door it was to a dirty room that had not yet been cleaned. When we went back downstairs to the front desk, we were told we would have to wait for a room to be cleaned. Half an hour later we were finally able to check into a clean room. The suite was very nice. Later that evening we decided to swim in the heated indoor pool. It was without a doubt the COLDEST pool water we had ever felt of any pool, indoor or outdoor. I've felt mountain streams with warmer water than this pool! My husband has arthritis and cannot swim in cold water so I always call any hotel before I reserve to ask about their pool temperature. When I called the same day we checked into this hotel, I was told that the pool was heated and the water was warm. I'm not even sure how an indoor pool could have water this cold. We ended up sitting in the hot tub for a little while and then going back up to our room to watch TV. Breakfast was nice and well stocked. Overall, this hotel was nice but definitely over priced as are all the hotels in the Deadwood area. We had planned on staying 3 nights in this hotel but checked out and went to Spearfish instead. The hotel there was less than half the price of Comfort Inn in Deadwood and the pool was warm and much nicer. I would recommend staying in the Spearfish or Belle Fourche area for overall value as there are nice hotels there that will cost much less.
