“Awesome experience!”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

We stayed in one of the covered wagons for a night of camping, saw the Laura Ingalls Play, and toured the homestead. It is still one of our daughters favorite trips! The homestead has tons of hands on activities that kids really enjoy (our girls were 9 at the time) It was a little out of the way on our travels to the Black Hills, but so worth it!!!

“My childhood brought to life”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

We stopped here on our road trip across the country. My sister and I grew up reading and watching the tv show. It was really awesome to place the books in a sequence and know what book is based at this location. It was fun to see the homestead and the houses we read about, experience a one room school and if we were just a little younger do all the hands on projects. I did experiment with the laundry station. I highly recommend this to anyone who loved the books or the show, especially if there is a family with some younger aged girls. 20/23 were a little old but we still enjoyed it.

“A good sampler”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

If you think this is just a historic house, forget it.

This is the original land claim once owned by the Ingalls, and gives you an idea of how large a homestead parcel was, with a relocated church marking the east corner and a relocated school marking the south corner of the property. The visitor center is on a hill in the northwest corner, providing panoramic views of the land below. The Ingalls house and other sample structures are recreations of what they lived in, but it is top notch, and the interpreters are well versed in their Ingalls lore. It will take time to take it all in, but it is worth a visit if you loved the Little House books.

“Fun!”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

We had a great time visiting here. The staff outside were amAzing. We got a wagon ride, got to make corn cob dolls and rope. There was a barn with animals inside. The house with make believe items was a hit. My daughter loved washing the clothes!! The only downside to our visit was the lady inside the gift shop. I thought she was a bit snotty and ride. Otherwise we had such a fun visit here!! It's truly amazing. Don't forgot to visit the cottonwood trees on your way out!

“historically educational”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

this was fun for the entire family. it has a petting barn, wagon rides, and a lot of hands on crafts and "chores" that you can take home. we made ropes and corn cob dolls as hard as it is to get teen agers to admit they are having fun, this place did just that, with them asking to return.
