After a very very long day in the car, we were delighted to find a large room with two queen beds, working A/C and a clean bathroom. The hotel itself is very attractive. Nice lobby and helpful staff. For a small town, this is a nice hotel. Would stay here again. The kids loved the pool which was fairly large for a hotel and also well maintained.

We liked the comfy bed and the shower had good water pressure, but drained very slowly. We were on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator but the staff did offer to carry up our luggage. The pool was rather cold and the floor in the pool area was made of a stone which was very uncomfortable to walk on. The breakfast room was too small and rather dark.

If I returned to the area I would probably stay across the river in Oacoma. Be sure to try Al'a Oasis over there for dinner, it was yummy. Also if you're crossing the river from Oacoma to Chamberlain, stop at the rest stop/scenic turnout on the Chamberlain side. We were there around sunset and the views of the river were beautiful.

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor room if you have trouble with stairs.

On the way out to the Black Hills, we tried to stay cheap and picked a Days Inn right by the highway. We were so disappointed, but we just wanted to continue with our trip. On our way back, we avoided that hotel completely and looked for an AmericInn since those are typically nice. This hotel was great! The desk guys were super helpful and nice. The pool was an awesome break from the hot weather we had all week. The rooms were very clean and smelled very good (instead of the musty, old, smoky smell that most hotels have). Thank you for making our trip end on a great note!

My husband, myself and our pets stay at this Americinn regularly on our way west from Chicago. I have to agree with another reviewer that the location is not the greatest, but it is definitely one of the nicest places to stay in Chamberlain. The rooms are always clean, and they have a spacious feel to them. In summer, we generally cross the river to have dinner at the Cedar Shores Resort. You can sit out on their deck, have a nice drink with your dinner, and even bring your pet with you (if you sit at a bar table)! If you are traveling with pets and are thinking of staying at the Americinn in Mitchell, SD, try to go on to this Americinn. The staff is much friendlier and the pet fee is a lot less if you have more than one pet. I really like this particular Americinn, and highly recommend it.

Found this place on Garmin - Too expensive to justify the negatives.

Nice lodge environment, but some problems with cleanliness. Pool was so cold, cloudy and murky, we didn't get in at 11 pm - we thought maybe because it was July 4 and heavily used during the day, but it was too murky to get in the next morning as well.
The hot tub was large, and hot, but no jets - just bubbling water. Sauna was enjoyed.

We appreciated some OJ upon check - in, but noted cream cheese was left out all night (not the kind that's safe to leave out -should have been refrigerated). Glad I don't usually eat cream cheese- but could possibly cause food poisoning for somebody. Just not safe food handling practice.

There was a dirty washcloth hanging on our shower rod from the previous guest.
Coffeepot was set on on the lightswitch - took a bit to figure out how to make coffee in the room - had to change the outlet. Coffeepot was dirty too.

I wasn't impressed with the breakfast but the Biscuits and Sausage gravy WAS good, but surely wasn't my first choice for a healthy bkft.

Bed was comfortable - otherwise clean. Staff was helpful.
