Nicky burger is the best. A truly historic place, nothing much has changed in the 50 years I've been eating here (my family has eaten here since it opened) except for doubling the counter a few years back. Same burgers, same buns (all from a local bakery), same service, same experience. Only the price changes. Along with the SDSU dairy for ice cream, Nick's is the place where we go to relive our youth and continue to make more family memories.

I have eaten at many hamburger places around the country and Nick's is the best. The buns are fresh every day from a local bakery. The relish has been a secret recipe for years and is very good. The hamburgers are unique. You will enjoy!

My 80 year old parents have been going to Nick's since they were young. My husband & I frequented Nick's while in college. On a recent trip through Brookings we decided to stop back in. The slight expansion of the building has hardly changed the experience. If you can get a seat on one of the counter stools, you'll be served within minutes. The burgers are fried in full view, small, but delicious on a fresh soft bun.

When we travel we always try the local restaurants. We very rarely eat at the fast food joints and the chain restaurants. We found Nick's on TripAdvisor and previous reviewers did not steer us wrong! The menu was simple and easy for the kids, the burgers were delicious, even with homemade buns! The service was so quick and very friendly. We really enjoyed sitting on the stools and watching them cook the food. A perfect local dive! If we're ever in Brookings again, I'm sure we'll go back!

Nick's and Brookings are synonymous. My grandfather used to frequent Nick's back before WWII. Two generations later, we go as a rule on Saturdays. Sure, McD's is cheaper, but you won't get the atmosphere or service that you get at Nick's. A must for anyone visiting Brookings.
