“One of our favorite KOAs!”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

We spent the night at Point South KOA in a motorhome with slide-outs. Point South is one of our favorite KOAs and we stay there regularly when we are traveling on I-95. Definitely recommended!

The pros are: (1) The Swimming Mermaid Coffee House. You can get delicious coffee, wine, pizza, wings and ice cream! They will also deliver pizza to your site. There is wine tasting every night at 6:30 PM. The wines are local to the Carolinas and Georgia, and there is a very nice selection with something for every taste. (2) Very convenient location with easy access to I-95, and it's about half-way between Charleston and Savannah. (3) Although there are no concrete pads, sites are reasonably level and nicely-shaded. (4) Free cable. (4) Free wi-fi. (5) Pool and hot tub; (6) The staff is always friendly, helpful and welcoming.

We also spent a night there last month and we had our 7 year old grandson with us. While we tasted wine, he ate pizza and got to color a Point South KOA backpack with fabric markers. We all had a great time!

We don't travel with pets, but Point South is very dog-friendly with a new K-9 Kamp area for dogs to run around.

The cons are--and these wouldn't be negatives for everyone: (1) Our Verizon phones had a very weak signal--enough to text, but not enough to make phone calls. (2) We couldn't get a satellite signal because of the the trees, but since there is cable, it wasn't really a problem.

We stayed at this delightful campground on our way home from our vacation. It's easy to find and signs for the campground are well marked. The owners are absolutely delightful. We had a medical issue and they were most helpful. For an overnight stop, you can't do better! Every site is level and most are pull through with full hook ups. Their main office features basic supplies, several types of coffee and even nightly wine tastings. The facilities are super clean. The campground is quiet. All in all, exactly what we were looking for. Next time we go through this area, we'll certainly stay here again!

Room Tip: Sites near the office are closest to restrooms and the pool!

Much like the previous review, we stayed at the Point South KOA as a stop over between Pennsylvania and Florida. No complaints. Right off I-95. Campground was clean and pretty and had level, easy in/easy out sites. Nice little playground for the kids and they did allow campfires. I did do the wine tasting and enjoyed it very much (especially after 12 hours in the car with 3 kids!). They featured local wines and I learned about the local area from the friendly bartender. Very nice stop!

Back in December of 2012 the wife and I made a trip to the Florida Keys in our motorhome. We left bellwood,Pa and planned 3 overnight stays on the way to Sugarloaf Key, Fl. One of our overnight stays was at the South Point KOA. We picked it in advance since it was and EZ on/EZ off site from I-95 as we traveled. We were not disappointed one bit. We hopped off I-95 and drove about a mile to the KOA which is well marked and easy to find. You can here the traffic from the Interstate but it not over-bearing. If your just staying overnight it's not an issue. They have walking trails and a few ponds behind the place. It's nice here regardless. Quiet with a ton of Southern Charm. The entire place has tree's covered in spanish moss which just adds to the stay. Being from PA is a nice sight.. In any case you check in with a very friendly staff. It has the usual store with ice, beer, and the usual basics. This KOA has a bonus. They have a pizza oven supplying pizza, wings, etc..... We didn't have to go out looking for supper. Plus the pizza is delivered to your site. Sweet!!! No need to unhook your toad. They do offer "wine tasteings" nightly but I passed. I prefer a cold beer or 2 after a long drive but if you like wine you'll enjoy it here. The only down side was there was no "Dog Run". There is a well marked dog walk but no where to let the pups just run loose. We travel with 3 dogs so a "dog run" is a plus with us. We stayed here on our way down to the Florida Keys again on our way back home to PA. Wanted the pizza. It's yummy. We only stayed the 1 night down and 1 night back but this KOA was a wonderful place to saty.......

Room Tip: Didn't use the pool but it looked clean. Just too cold on December. No fitness centerr but who...
