We normally stay in hotels on our drive to Florida and had never stayed at a B&B because of privacy concerns. This entire experience was wonderful. We did book the largest room which also had a very large bath, a king size bed with a great mattress and lovely quality linens that had actually been IRONED!! The house was beautiful and immaculate. Breakfast was DELICIOUS. Best coffee ever, home made pecan rolls ( I am still salivating) and eggs Benedict. What more can I say except the Sterlings were gracious and lovely.

Absolutely my favorite place to stay on my way north. Immaculate accomodations, gracious hosts and delicious breakfasts. As a single traveler, I feel so secure and pampered. So many extra nice touches. Jean and Don are the consumate hosts. You won't be disappointed!

What a lovely place and wonderful hosts! We stayed here one night on the way north and then one night on the way back south within a week, and stayed in different rooms each time. Both rooms were very nice, though we preferred "Nancy's Room". Very peaceful setting and within walking distance to downtown. Breakfast was delicious and can't say enough about Don and Jean. This is a definite stop now on our trips up I-95.

This is a beautiful B&B, extremely clean, well furnished with every amenity you might need, and very congenial hosts. Breakfast was delicious, and the recommended restaurant for our evening meal was excellent (and reasonably priced) too. I would highly recommend this B&B and will look forward to staying here again. Thank you, Jean and Don, for providing such lovely accommodations.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable.

On our trip from New England to Florida, we decided to look into staying at a Bed & Breakfast as the other options in the Walterboro, SC area did not look promising. Staying at the Academy B & B was more affordable that other options and proved to be an outstanding experience. From the moment we met Don & Jean, we knew these were owner's who left no details to chance. There B&B is immaculate, quiet and comfortable and the owner's made us feel very welcome and at home. They were very gracious at providing us information about the history of the B&B, the nearby area and amenities . Breakfast was served in the elegant dining room and was like eating at a five star restaurant. We (gladly) paid the price quoted to us on the phone.
