“Dated property... But service and friendly staff are exceptional...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2010

Stayed overnight briefly before heasding to Kiawah Island.

The Bad:

1. Dated property. Rooms are old style and have faint musty odor. Rooms open to outside.

2. Pool is very small.

3. Not much to do on this Interstate Exit.

The Good:

1. Friendliest breakfast staff at any hotel, any location I have ever seen. Older gentleman greets guests like a long lost uncle or a preacher on Sunday.

2. Front desk staff are very accomodating.

3. Close to a Cracker Barrel.

Would go back, recommend based primarily on service.

Stayed one night the third week of March when heading south on I-95. A bit worried when we pulled up and noticed it was an older property with outdoor corridors. Check-in was a breeze and they honored our state rate of $67. Our room were on the second floor and close to the lobby, that made me a bit more comfortable since I was staying in my room by myself. Room had been refurbished. Furniture was a bit dated and the bed a bit soft, but everything else was very nice. Had newer carpet, flat screen tv and a redone bathroom. Ordered a wake-up call and it was delivered on time. Breakfast the next morning, although the standard Hampton menu, was heavily refreshed and kept clean and the manager was making rounds in the lobby greeting guests and making sure everything was well. Would definitely stay here again if the opportunity allowed while traveling on I-95.

We stayed at this Hampton Inn as a stop on the way to Florida. Its location was perfect and Hampton Inn is a favorite. It is a motel, not a hotel as all rooms face ethier the road or the tree'd area. It is 14 years old and although very clean it is in need of a upgrade. Jim and the restaurant manager are exceptionally friendly and enhance your stay. It is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for

We came upon the Hampton Inn at Walterboro under unusual circumstances, due to the death of a family member. The hotel staff could not have reached out to us any more than if they were family. They were kind, caring, genuine and available for any of our needs to make our stay more comfortable under the circumstances. After this experience, I will always look for a Hampton Inn while traveling. The rooms were clean, comfortable, the complimentary breakfast and evening cookies were always good and plentiful. However, the best part was how the staff made a difficult time easier to deal with. There are no rating high enough to express the service that we received.

I recently had to spend over a few weeks in Walterboro and had stayed at the Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8 and by far, the hampton had the best accommodation in the area. Right off the interstate and provided a room that was clean, comfortable and bug free. The pool was nice and extremely clean and somehow bugfree. The Staff is so friendly and made my stay extremely comfortable. Although the rooms all have outside entrances, it was very safe. The only downside is that it is an older Hampton so if you're used to staying at the Hampton Inns in the bigger cities, this one does not have all the bells and whistles. However, compared to the other hotels in Walterboro within the price range, they offer the best amenities and services for the money. If you HAVE to stay in Walterboro, I would highly recommend staying at the Hampton Inn.

This location was the worst Hampton Inn I've ever stayed in. They gave me a newly renovated room and the smell of the new materials about knocked me over. The room should have been ventilated before allowing guests to stay in it. The construction in the room was very poor. There were visible holes in the drywall where fixtures didn't line up. The toilet had to be ground down to make room for the door to shut. Electrical outlets had covers that weren't screwed in. The ceiling texture had big patches down the middle - I think any untrained person could have done a better job. I don't know who they hired to do the renovations, but they need to find someone else. I will never return to this location.

This Hampton is at an I-95 interchange in rural SC. This is the second time I have stayed here. It is immaculately clean, recently refurbished, large rooms, good breakfast food in the lobby with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. The rooms rates are very reasonable. It is at a typical interstate Hwy. interchange -so the surroundings are mostly other hotels & gas stations, not very attractive. BUT, I will stay here again when in the area. I could rate it excellent, but even as an enthuiast of this hotel it is not the Ritz or the Waldorf. Do not be mislead! It is a very clean, reasonably priced and nicely cared for Hampton Inn. Go for it!
