“Good history”

If you know the history and are willing to walk all the way to the back, it's a great side trip. Take a jacket and really good flashlight.

“We've been stumped!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

Sometimes, the little out of the way places can be the gem of the day as with this adventure. Located about 8 miles north out of walhalla sc on hwy 28, you will find the stump. I had read an article in a mag, and was curious to find the stump. It's an old tunnel built back in the 1850's that was never finished. The tunnel is approx 1600 ft long, but visitors can only go about 200 ft due to a cave in.There's picnic tables in the area and plenty of walking trails.
