“Great lodging, breakfast lacking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We stayed at the beautiful and historic Liberty Lodge while visiting friends for a few days. Betty and Patsy were very nice and allowed us an extra room for our daughter to stay, since it was available. Our bedroom was huge and actually had two beds in it and an adjoining bathroom. We have stayed in dozens of B&B's; Liberty is the first one that served breakfast on weekends only. Maybe that was best. Our breakfast mainly consisted of a bland, sugary concoction. The nice couple that sat with us also questioned what it was. I was given half a cup of water for tea. Usually, our B&B breakfasts are excellent, so the second "B" was a letdown. Hopefully, the LL has breakfast options that are much better than the one we happened to get.

We stayed here for two nights recently on a road trip in the southern states. Firstly the house is beautiful and historic and a wonder in itself. The guest rooms are sumptous and although the bathroom is "antique" it still functioned perfectly. A room heater was foisted on us in case we were chilly but being from England we didn't feel we needed it. We didn't have breakfast as this is only offered on the weekends, but we did have dinner on the Thursday evening and it was one of the best meals we had in the US. Properly home cooked food rather than the usual big chain offerings of everything fried. Wine is good; we could only manage one dessert. I strongly recommend taking a meal there if you are around on the right night. Afterwards we got chatting with Patsy and Betsy and found out more about the history of the house and had a little tour! We hope the birthday celebrations went well on Sunday 14th! A very memorable stay and highly recommended - you will be delighted.

My sister and I held our Mother's 80th Birthday celebration on June 9th at the Liberty Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Walhalla, South Carolina. The owners, Betty and Patsy, helped us with the planning and menu and our every request was accomodated. The food for the party was delicious and beautifully presented. Everyone had a wonderful time and loved the venue. Rooms were available to guests at a very reasonable rate. My sister and I, with our spouses, stayed overnight and absolutely loved the beauty and history of the Liberty Lodge. Breakfast in the morning was terrific! Having grown up nearby, we knew that the Liberty Lodge is perfectly located to visit all the attractions in the upstate of South Carolina so it would be a great choice for visitors to the area. There is a swimming pool and plenty of places to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or southern sweet tea. The lodge also offers a dinner service to guests and the public. We definitely recommend the Walhalla Liberty Lodge for your next stay, event or dinner in the Upstate of S.C. Betty and Patsy will make you feel like family!!

Third time staying here. Step back in time and enjoy some true Southern Hospitality. Gracious and accommodating owners make you feel at home. Very Reasonably priced comfortable place to stay when visiting the upstate of South Carolina. Lots to see and do nearby. The Restaurant on the property has some of the best food in the area.

Room Tip: Third time here. We liked the Dixie suite on the second floor best.

Charming old southern home made from heart pine with large porches on beautiful grounds. We stayed for a couple of days to take advantage of the parks, hiking, and waterfalls in the SC and NC mountains. Located in the foothills, the Liberty Lodge was within an hour of everything we wanted to see and do. Almost everything has been left "as is" to retain the integrity of the 1880's home. One upgrade that we did enjoy was the pool that was added around ten years ago. After a long day of hiking and sightseeing we enjoyed a dip in the pool while watching the sun go down and the fireflies light up. The Innkeepers (sisters Betty and Patsy) made us feel at home.
