Right outside of Charleston is this Tea plantation that is the only one in the United States. It is a lovely way to spend the morning touring this beautiful farm and hearing the story of how it came about. There is a lovely gift shop and tea samples and a very sweet man who gives the tour on a trolley that they bought from ebay that came from Philadelphia. My husband and I enjoyed the tour. They should beef up the factory tour, but the tour in the field was great. Combine this with the Firefly Distillery and the winery down the street and make a day of it.

We really enjoyed the trolley and factory tours at the Tea Plantation as did our kids who are 10,10 and 14. There were unlimited samples and we found the staff to be very friendly and knowledgable. If you need a fun outing especially if you are staying out on Kiawah or Seabrook then this is for you!

If you have time during your stay i would definitely go. It is an interesting story and a tranquil place to go with your family. The history is amazing, being the fact that it is the only one in America. The tour is sub par --two videos, but gives a decent history on the plantation. The tram is fun as well. Multiple teas to select from hot, cold, etc. Really Interesting fact.... This is where the White House gets their tea!!! Bring bug spray if you are coming during the summer months!

The Tea Plantation is a relaxing stop on your South Carolina visit. It is not a substitute for the authentic southern plantation experiences. It is a real-live working plantation where they grow tea leaves, harvest them and turn them into tea. You'll learn about it in a short and informative tour. The best part is the free tea, iced or hot, and the lovely surroundings. Relax, have a cup of tea and sit on a rocking chair on the porch. You could even skip the tour if you want to save a little money and just sip some tea on the porch.

Worth the drive out. Not really what I was expecting but fun. The 'factory tour' is really just two videos that you watch as you look out over some equipment in a barn/garage. The tram is fun and it's very pretty out on the plantation. However, if you don't want to pay for the tram or don't have the time there isn't a whole lot to see outside of the gift shop. Lots of tea to select from and some great samples though. Friendly staff and a cool place to visit.
