“Nice Stop, Especially if you are a Tea Lover!”

This planation is worth the trip. I'm a tea lover and really learned a lot. It's hard to believe it is the only Tea Planation in America. Relax with your cup of tea in the Trolley while you tour the grounds, then walk through the short tour of the factory. Cute gift area with some unique tea items.

“Little Known Gem”
Reviewed October 19, 2011

The only tea plantation in North America was VERY interesting. We learned a lot from the narrated factory tour and the guided tour of the grounds. The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. The gift shop offerred a good selection of their products. A worthwhile visit!

“What a Great place to visit”
Reviewed October 15, 2011

The Charleston Tea Plantation is a great place to visit while in Charleston. You may get to watch the process of turning harvested tea leaves into tea to use. Take the trolly ride and learn about the history of the tea plantation and about tea. the only cost is for the trolly ride.

“Discovering Tea”
Reviewed October 15, 2011

We found our trip to the Charleston Tea Plantation very informational and scenic. The self guided tour provided the basics of tea growth and manufacture and the bus tour took you right into the fields to see the plants. We also had the opportunity to see the 'big green machine' harvesting new growth. The plantation is an easy drive from downtown (beware that GPS says the plantation is on the right but it is on the left.) Take the time to visit Angel Oak on your way back (the gift shop provides directions)...it only takes a few minutes but well worth the stop.

“A "Tea"riffic Tour”
Reviewed October 14, 2011

There are several reasons to leave Charleston, and the Charleston Tea Plantation is one of them. The factory video tour is free, the gift shop and grounds are pleasant, and you can sip hot or cold tea while you browse. The trolly tour of the plantation is well worth the $10.00. Part of the tour is recorded and the rest is done live by the trolly driver. If you are interested in how things are grown and processed, make time for this attraction. We recommend heading for Wadmalaw Island early in the day so you also have time to visit Angel Oak, Irvin House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery.
