“Pleasantly surprised!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

I was pleasantly surprised by Plantation Resort in Surfside, I knew I had reserved a lock-off - i.e. a smaller bedroom and bath normally part of a 3 BR 3 BA timeshare condo, and know that lock-offs can be noisy, but this one wasn't. The bed was comfortable, and the bath - with its huge Jacuzzi tub - was really nice. Everything was clean, and there was a nicely sized flat screen hanging on the wall. The small refer was larger than most mini fridges, and the microwave was higher quality than many hotel room microwaves, too.

The amenities are nice - good pools, workout room, etc., and a convenient shuttle to the beach, and the staff friendly and helpful as well.

That all said, the unit would have been nicer with a chair for sitting (like most hotel rooms have), and a couple of dishes and utensils would be nice as well.

What I would most like to see is the golf course on which the resort was built re-opened. It looks like it must have been really nice, and would really be a great addition if it would be operating again.

This was a great place to stay! 2 bdr 2 bath loft condo. Sun Lights, washer dryer in condo, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender pots and pans, dishes, ice maker and silverware. Hair dryer in each bathroom. Nice balcony over looking water where we watched the ducks, geese and turtles. Charcoal grills on site. Indoor pool and hot tub open till 10 pm and outdoor pool and hot tub open 24 hours a day. Poolside grill open till 6 pm for hamburgers, hot dogs and grill cheese. Kids water park with lazy river. Nice clean Fitness center/gym and all sorts of aerobic classes. Spa on site by appointment. I highly recommend this place convenient to all attractions, restaurant's and Surfside Beach. I would stay here again no questions or thoughts about it!

Rooms are tiny. No kitchen space whatsoever. Customer service is just horrible. When my daughter and son-in-law went to the time share meeting, the First Lady was quite nice. The second gentleman made desparaging remarks about the lady's age. Then told us if we weren't buying to "get the hell out". Mamnegment was no helpful. Rude people and second rate place.

There is not much to say about this place. The rooms were clean, the beds were rock hard, the living room furniture is sticky vinyl, the air conditioner has a governor on it, the music at the pool was cycling redundantly with steel drum music. If your are looking for a place to hang your hat this might be acceptable. If you are looking for a place above basic look elsewhere.

If you and your family are looking for somewhere really nice to stay in the Myrtle Beach/Surfside Beach area, this isn't it.
Our family stayed here the week of Memorial Day, 2013. We were told that we were in a presidential recently renovated unit - I'm not sure what they classify as "renovated". All they had done was re-paint, maybe added kitchen cabinets and curtains. The floor was so dirty that all of our feet were black for our entire stay (we wiped the floor and the towel came up black), most of the dishes still had food debris on them, and only one threadbare dishtowel that we immediately put in the washing machine. The kitchen chairs were 1980's metal painted white with plastic seating so your legs stuck to it, and some of them were ripped. The master toilet seat had a chunk missing out of it, and not to mention the chewed up dog toy on the back porch (in a dog free condo??)
The dishes were the cheapest Correll that you can get at Walmart and the dishwasher was the original one that came with the unit, the microwave door handle had been snapped in half and re-glued. The curtains were a shade of green that didn't go with anything in the unit - like everything else inside - nothing matched, and you had 2 choices, leave the curtains open so all could see in, or close them and sit under florescent lights. The living room had a bedroom dresser as the entertainment center, and the master and 2nd bedroom had tube TV's that were strapped to the wall near the ceilings.
However on a positive the unit came with plenty of towels, pillows and blankets and we were only a short drive from the beach. The grounds were lovely and well cared for and the check in staff couldn't have been friendlier.
Oh, and don't forget to look out for the abandoned golf building with the nazi symbols spray painted on it near the Presidential Buildings entrance. No, I am not kidding.

I booked this resort through RCI, and there was no mention of housekeeping fees for using points. ( I look for that always when I book )
Checked in at the resort and there was NO mention of housekeeping fees. Got home, checked my bank statement, and BOOM a $54.00 housekeeping fee for only staying 4 days! If I had known that, I would have "lived" a little instead of being my normal "clean freak" self.
I called the resort to ask about the fee and the fact that it doesn't mention it on RCI nor do they mention it at check-in and the lady was less than apologetic.
It's a fairly decent resort. The timeshare presentation is quite the hoot. They basically tell you that if you don't buy a timeshare from them, you are stupid beyond reason.
The security guard is always "Out on patrol" and is never at the gate house. We were there 4 days and only saw him once in the gate house, I have never seen that before.
The property is nice, what was poor was the service and attitudes of the staff.

We needed a one night stay between vacation weeks. We used to have a timeshare at Plantation and thankfully we unloaded it. Never, under any circumstances get a timeshare. I found The Plantation Resort at Expedia for a paltry sum and booked it. Upon check-in they tried to charge me double and it took forever to starighten it out. The condo was nice and spacious overlooking what used to be a nice goolf course. Now it is just weeds. Very sad. There is still water and ducks. There are two nice pools to enjoy. A shuttle is available to take you to beach.
