Description: Seafood restaurant in Sumter Sc that serves Caolina style fried shrimp, ocean fish both fried and broiled, hush puppies, vegetables. Known mostly to locals who don't mind the 50's style decor. Everything is clean as a whistle, stand in line to give your order, then they bring to you. Basic prices are lowest possible, but the chef knows his seafood.

“Best fried seafood for the price”

Order the fried biscuit instead of the hushpuppies. If you need a seafood fix and you're broke, go here. The shrimp and oyster plate is $12.95. You walk in and place your order at the register. You get a number and they bring the food to you. They also have home made macaroni and cheese and sea scallops.

“No Improvements in 20 years”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2011

Visited this restaurant for the first time in 12 years since moving away from SC. The Shrimper is the same. Absolutely no upgrades to the facility. The lighting is poor, the seating is poor, and the management has yet to learn that tarter sauce should not be left out on tables for 12 hours. I selected the fried chicken. It is obvious that either the cooking oil is not changed daily or that the fish and chicken are fried in the same oil.

“Excellent Fried Seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2011

The Shrimper has excellent fried seafood and sides. They are cooked just right. I have never had a problem from the Shrimper. The service is excellent. The staff is very friendly. It is a little expensive. But, usually worth it.
