I recently stayed five days at the Hampton Inn in Sumter while visiting an ill relative at Toumey Medical Center. I can't say enough about the front desk staff. They were all very hospitable, accommodating and extremely friendly. This was a busy weekend for them with a USC home game scheduled the hotel was packed with athletic teams from visiting colleges. However, the breakfasts although crowded were organized and the food was plentiful. There were cookies available throughout the day and the coffee urns remained hot and full.
The guest relations desk clerk, Ms. Barbette, was always there to greet me at the end of the day with a welcoming uplifting word and warm smile. She was unaware that my relative was in ICU at the hospital and I was feeling less optimistic concerning his recovery with each passing day. So her chipper smile and sound dinning suggestions were just what I needed at the days end when I was emotionally spent. As a single female traveler, this hotel was in a great location with multiple dinning options just steps from the hotel front door. The Sumter HI was a safe, clean and well maintained accommodation with a nice group of employees. This was a good choice to safely lay my head at night. Thank you Ms. Barbette and I plan to stay at this HI again when I return to visit my ill relative next month.More
