“Beautiful lake and campground”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

Close campground off 95 if traveling north or south. Beautiful campground with lakeview sites. Cabins are on/in the lake. Fish from your porch. Boat ramp, plenty of places to walk. Cracker Barrel nearby. Did not check out the bath houses but if they are like other SC parks they should be very clean. The lake was so quiet and calm when we were there, and so were the campgrounds.

“Lots of deer to see!”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

We drove through the State Park and there were so many deer along the side of the road. We stopped and looked at Lake Marion from the dock, and it was so quiet and peaceful.

“Nice state park; but they do things different”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

A nice park about 4.5 miles west of 1-95 on State Park Road. There is a Catholic Church (Saint Ann) about 2 miles before you arrive at the park. The park is located 4.8 miles west of the Econo Lodge at Santee (where we stayed.) There is also a Shoney's restaurant just east of 1-95, which has very good food, but if they charge you for your water, don't be afraid to complain! There is even a real service station (not a junk shop which sells gas,) but where you can get your car repaired, get your oil and tires checked, in addition to selling gas, lottery tickets and food, right after leaving 1-95 en route to the park. They sell Horizen gas which I never heard of before (which is known to the locals as selling good gasoline.) The state park admission we paid at the office ($2 each adult) near the end of the road by the lake. We tried the Oak-pinnola trail, and it was poorly marked, so to avoid getting lost, we turned around just after walking about 0.8 miles each way. We then hiked about 1.6 miles of the main trail, before we turned around to return to the car, which was very nice and well marked. I was up to hiking many more miles, but it was starting to get dark, and our dog is starting to recover from a serious illness (Thank God.) If you have a few hours and a few dollars, by all means check this park out.

“Our Camping Trip”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Went camping for Thanksgiving, it is an annual trip each year. This years trip was colder than most that we have been on. The area is nice: the bathhouse was clean in working condition with an adequate heater, the park is located on the upper portion of Lake Marion in Orangeburg county. If you like to hunt there is deer hunting, duck hunting near by. A large lake for fishing. water sports boating etc. There is a place provided at each camp site for a camp fire electric and water hook-up at each site, a dump station to dump waste water. Adequate site for motor homes all the way down to tent camping sites. Grocery shopping nearby a few restaurants nearby. Good placed to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

“Great Camping, fishing, or a picnic”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

I live at the entrance to the park now for 13 years. It is a beautiful spot for a camping, fishing or picnic trip. Only about 2 miles west of Interstate 95- makes getting on and off with an RV or fishing boat really easy. Three golf courses within a 5 minute drive. One hour to Charleston, SC and One hour to Columbia, SC. Lake Marion is, I believe, the largest in South Carolina. Come and spend some time here and enjoy a wonderful experience.
