“Fun place to visit”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

We went to Lone Star for a family birthday celebration. While the food is ordinary, the place itself is fun to walk around and look at all the memorabilia. The desserts, particularly, were way too dependent on Cool Whip, no real originality. The "barbecue" was not cooked over a fire or in a smoker and the sauces seemed to have come from a can. I like the owner but he needs to re-think his menu to kick it up a notch.

“Should be called "Lonestar Southern Comfort Food"”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

There are no traditional BBQ items on the menu, other than pulled pork. However, you will find a large selection of southern comfort foods at the buffet, which were delicious. The southern fried chicken, coleslaw and tomato pie are worth trying. Very filling for the price of approx $10 per person with tax.

“love the old time theme”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Have been here many times but decided to take the in-laws that had never been,we just happened to show up on bluegrass night where they were having live music. The food is always good, the service is always friendly, and we always love the "general" store area with the retro candy's and such. The family really enjoyed themselves. The décor is something to see if you appreciate southern antiques such as stoves, washboards, mammoth artifacts(yes they are in a glass case)and the like.It feels like you are stepping back a hundred years, even the sink in the bathroom has one faucet for hot and another for cold. There is a ramp available for wheel chair access, and there is room to get through if you have one.(My sister is,and she fit just fine)even though the whole place is several old houses put together in a row(which is interesting in itself).Great value as the buffet is just over $8 for adults.Don't forget the banana pudding!

“Nice find off the beaten path”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We found his place while on a golf trip with about 23 other guys. The locals pointed us to this place. They have a buffet which for men after 36 holes of golf equaled food nirvana. BBQ was good, but the stars of the show were the tomato pie and bread pudding. I went back for thirds of these items. The place is rustic. Pretty cool, but don't take a date there unless they like early pioneer. We loved it and would go back tomorrow. Truly a great American business.
