We stayed here as part of a Road Scholar kayaking program and were so delighted with the accommodations that I am anxious to return. This is not a hotel experience; rather a vacation rental type. The cottages have full kitchens, private bedrooms with private baths (1 - 5 bedrooms). Large living/dining areas. Most have washer/dryer. No TV or radio, but abundant nature; stars like you would not believe.
Verizon seems to have excellent reception, but I understand other carriers are iffy.
If you want to get away from it all, this is a splendid place; yet you are less than an hour from Savannah, GA; closer to historic Beaufort, SC. This is Pat Conroy country.

Room Tip: We shared a 5 bedroom cottage with others in our program. Even so, no noise!

We stayed at Palm Key for a long Thanksgiving weekend. Our cottage on the water was quiet and spacious. The scenery was beautiful. Thanksgiving dinner was delicious and festive. Historic towns and shopping are all only a short distance away. Plenty to do at Palm Key with hiking, fishing, kayaking. Judy and Em are great. Would diffently recommend and go back.

We stayed at Palm Key while having a house built in the area. It is truly a unique environment where you can relax and commune with Nature. There are a number of fully equipped cottages that you can rent by the day, week, etc. with or without a food plan. Walk the nature trails, fish in the small lake, Kayak on the Broad river, bike, fossil hunt or just kick back and relax. The views across the marsh and Broad river are fantastic! You are 45 minutes from either historic Beaufort, SC or Savannah, GA and 1.5 hours from historic Charleston. Very clean and well maintained by Judy and Emil the owners / managers.

Room Tip: Talk to Judy about what is most important to you!

We want to live there. Judy and Em are such nice people and what a dream they had and still have since 1985. They really care about the environment in a common sense sort of way. All the rental houses look great (we went in 4 or 5 of them just to see). Kyaking was amazing and quiet and beautiful. Judy is an extraordinary lady.

My husband and I recently spent five nights at Palm Key. It was terrific! Our cottage on the water was large, well-equipped, quiet, and comfortable. Judy's breakfasts were awesome. We were surrounded by bird sounds (including a Great Horned Owl every evening), and greeted by a marvelous sunrise over the water every morning. We used Palm Key as a base to explore the area, and spent a morning paddling down a tidal river in their rental kayaks. I'd recommend Palm Key to anyone.

This is our second time at Palm Key, and we didn't want to leave. Judy and Em are delightful hosts, and helpful in every way. The cottage we stayed in was adorable and spotless. We took a kayaking trip every day, and some short jaunts on our bicycle as well. Definitely intend to come back.

Palm Key is a little piece of heaven nestled in the Low Country of South Carolina. We packed up 3 families and headed to Palm Key for Thanksgiving weekend last year and it was THE BEST vacation for all of us, as a matter of fact we are going to go again this year.
The beautiful cottages on the tidal marsh, kayaking the waters, fishing, delicious meals, bonfires, oyster roasts....it is all there and then some.
Palm Key has an outstanding facility for groups, conventions, family reunions, and Weddings. Put them on your "must do" list!
