“Great Breakfast”

Good old diner breakfast and great coffee! Service was also very good. Nice old style place beats the chain breakfast spots hands down.

“Meat 'n' Three That's Lost a Little Lately”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2012

Dyar's is a family run diner that features meat and three lunch offerings every day except Saturday. The meats are predictable (in fact, you can get fried or baked chicken every single day). The other meats are fairly standard (chicken casserole on Monday, turkey & dressing on Wednesday, and fish on Friday). Problem is that if you don't eat the chicken standards, there is often not a lot to offer (Tuesday is nigh worthless).

The side dishes are mostly canned veggies, often cooked in fatback or margarine. The whole shebang costs $7.75 (only $7.50 if you eat a meat and two), which is an increase of late. This is starting to get on the pricey side for what amounts to dressed up institutional food.

So, the food is quite average, but the people who work there are very friendly and aim to please. The clientele is aging. Check that--old. The fifty-plus crowd are the youngsters and I imagine that's due to the distance from Clemson, causing most people not to make the trek for lunch.

“Decent lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2008

I had a pretty delicious lunch at Dyer's. For the record, it should definitely be listed as the #1 restaurant in Pendleton. Great cafeteria meat and three. The strawberry cobbler was excellent.
