We have dined here a number of times and always been extremely happy. Last night was no exception. The food is beautifully prepared and the cocktails are properly prepared. Most local restaurants use simple syrup or triple sec to sweeten a martini. Oceans One bar prepares their martinis with the more expensive, cointreau which makes the best cocktail.

While the menu rarely changes, they offer numerous specials which nicely expands your options. We enjoyed the brussel sprout caesar salad which was excellent. The lobster bisque was delicate and flavorful. The lobster milanese was fantastic. It was so delicious and tender, it seemed to melt in my mouth. The only disappointment was the lamb chops were good, but were not as seasoned as could have been.

The setting is second to none. It is set right at the ocean and offers a panoramic view of the shoreline. Oceans One is tastefully decorated, offers attentive service and superior food. To us it has it all, which makes it a wonderful fine dining option.

This is the second time we've eaten there. Having just moved to the area, we took friends there for the first time a year ago. It was mid-winter then and although the restaurant was more than half empty at peak dinner hour, we were asked by almost every staff member if we had reservations. We apologetically said no, it was a spur of the moment choice as we had a house guest. They reluctantly found us a table. Our meals, however, were excellent as was the friendly, helpful wait staff. Very much up to the high standards that should be expected in an upscale, well reviewed, expensive restaurant...although $27. for a glass of medium grade champagne was a little much.

Our recent visit was quite a disappointment though. The same house guest we had taken on the previous occasion was visiting and suggested a repeat visit to Ocean One. We were careful to make reservations well in advance this time and a table was quickly prepped as we were ushered in. That was the good part. The service was friendly and helpful, but the air conditioning was set on 'deep freeze'. The view was still nice, but spoiled by dirty windows and decor was looking quite tired and dingy. We all ordered the same sea food combination from the menu and were assured it contained no crab, as my wife is allergic. We were then each issued one dinner roll with three different types of butter to share. The rolls were quite small and we had to ask for a second one. The Caesar's Salads were disappointing, much smaller and not nearly as good as our previous visit. The Entree was the biggest disappointment though, although it did get a mixed review. Three people ordering the same dinner which consisted mostly of scallops and shrimp had three entirely different experiences.
Our guest's dinner was greasy, to the point she couldn't eat most of it. My wife's dinner was tough to swallow...the scallops like rubber, the shrimp so tough they were difficult to cut and permeated with shredded crab meat (as were all) which she can't eat. Mine was fine. The scallops and shrimp were tender, properly cooked and not greasy. Not terrific, but pretty good...and i was very hungry. Two of the dinners made it to a garbage can. There so many great seafood restaurants in this area we will not waste our money at this place again. And, in an area known for great bars... their Cabana Club bar downstairs sadly serves drinks in smallish plastic cups!

This was our first visit to Austin’s Ocean One and we were very pleased. Our server Sarah was very helpful and informative. Our meals were superb. From the crab cake appetizer to the lamb and veal chops, we couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience.
