Unless you are a U.S.Marine Corps Recruit in training at Parris Island you probally won't seek this location out on your own. Since I was a recruit there more than 50 years ago, we paid a visit to the camp to see what "life" was 50 years later. All of the metal buildings of the 1950s are long gone, however the recruits were drilling in the hot sun the day we visited. To my surprise there was a Back Yard Burger and Subway on the base. It was well after lunch, nevertheless we stopped at Back Yard
Burger. This is a hugh fast food restaurant with seating for at least 200. There was only one person in the restaurant when we entered and ordered a burger. What we were served was dried out, overcooked slice of meat. Even the bun appeared to have been frozen and thawed. The french fries were soggy. This was not a good meal. If the Marines have to eat this kind of Back Yard Burger , I would strongly suggest they stick with the mess hall. No way it could be as bad as this. Since it was around 2PM, perhaps this was left over from lunch a couple of hours earlier.Back Yard Burger---get your act together---the U.S. Marines derserve better.
