“Can't Do Better Than SSV”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

The building is well positioned and our oceanfront room on 5th floor (high enough to enjoy the view) was an excellent choice for our four nights stay at SSV. We'll did it last year at Crescent Shore and will do it again next year within the vicinity. We all family members enjoyed. Loved it.

Room Tip: always choose oceanfront room.

We have stayed in many different oceanfront condos at North Myrtle Beach and this is one of the best ones. General property is well maintained and grounds are kept very clean. Besides being oceanfront, the options of pool, indoor pool, lazy river, hot tub, kiddie pool are very nice. Sometimes, mid-size buildings like this one do not have as many of these amenities and the larger condo buildings are just too big and too crowded! Building is a perfect size--not desolate but also not gigantic and overly crowded like some larger properties. Especially awesome in the off-season!

Plenty of parking options and units we have been in have all been well-maintained. They are pretty large, spacious units. Units ending in 01 or 07 are end units and have an extra bedroom (4 total), large jack and jill bathroom, extra side window in dining area, private bedroom in the back of the unit that could almost be called a second master with private balcony. Most units have upgrades such as granite, higher end appliances and tv's, ceramic tile, etc. Balconies are larger than most in the areas and they really are just large units. You cannot beat the space in comparison to a hotel room! And, how can you overstate the importance of an in-unit washer and dryer?!

This section of North Myrtle is a great stretch of beach--nice and wide. If you see any 'jelly' thing it is likely NOT a jelly fish but rather a harmless jellyball. Sand is soft and not much debris washes in except an occasional rouge day. Waves are good and better than in NC, Georgia and Florida and water is warmer than other popular areas such as Virginia Beach and Outer Banks. North Myrtle is much less commercial and crowded than Myrtle Beach and yet, if you want to head to Myrtle for restaurants or entertainment, it's so convenient.

This is our 2nd time staying at this facility and we were not disappointed. We rented from Condo World and had unit 501. It's a 4br/3ba end unit on the 5th floor right by the elevators. We had no noise issues from the elevators and loved the close proximity to them. We were early to arrive in town so decided to see if we could check in early at Condo World. Walked into their office at 1:15. They were telling everyone to check their phones for a text as to when their unit would be ready. Surprisingly when I got to the counter they said ours was ready so we were able to check in. Got our parking and pool passes, keys and were on our way. When we got to the complex we were reminded of one of the things we like about it. Ample parking. Parking here is a breeze as there are 4 levels of parking decks below the condos. We always park up on level 4 so we can just take the stairs one flight up to the condo. There was times we used the elevators like loading and unloading luggage, going down to the beach, and there was hardly ever a wait. There are plenty of luggage carts. You may find them on your parking deck but the main storage area for them is on deck 1. They have a nice size outdoor pool, a small indoor pool, lazy river, small kiddie pool, and a outdoor hot tub. The do keep the hot tub very close to 104* which was nice. The pools and lazy river do get crowded during the day. This had no affect on us cause we prefer the beach during the day and the pools at night. The pool area closes at 11PM and many nights we were the last to leave. A lot of nights we had it to ourselves! For those of you that enjoy the pool during the day, and want a lounger, you had better get there early. The pool opens at 9AM and every morning there was a lot of chair saving going on. Each morning there were several people that would place towels on chairs while reaching over the fence from the outside. One morning by 9:10 I counted 6 people inside the pool area and 26 chairs with towels on them. It's sort of like that on the beach too with the tent canopies. A local ordinance prohibits tents being set up prior to 8AM and must be taken down by 7PM. If you want the "front row" to the right of the city umbrella line then I suggest you get out there by 630AM. Every morning the front row was taken before 7. There is plenty of room on the beach behind them to set up but if you want to be front row you have to break the law and get out early. This is not a reflection of the complex but of the general public. Chair saving and beach hogging is common everywhere and Myrtle Beach is no exception. All up and down the beach people set their tents up very early. I never saw the authorities say anything to them unless they tried to setup directly in front of the city rental umbrellas. Back to our condo unit 501. We loved everything about it. Setting the a/c on 72 kept it quite comfortable all week. There is a big screen tv in the living room as well as small flat screens in all the bedrooms. The living room furniture was very comfortable and ample space for our group to lounge around. All the kitchen appliances worked great and the unit had ample dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, and pans. We made good use of the washer and dryer all week. The balcony facing the ocean had plenty of seating as well as a table. We spent a lot of time out there enjoying the view. Each night we would get a free fireworks show on the beach from some of the guests. Some of them were quite spectacular so I imagine they spent some moolah. There is a storage utility room right outside the condo front door. It is plenty large enough to keep your boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella, etc. So, all in all we had an awesome week. The weather was perfect all week. The water was awesome. No jellies. We loved Southshore and will definitely be staying there again on our next visit to Myrtle Beach.

This was the 2nd year for our family's beach trip. It is a good location and the beach is nice. It is great to have the convenience of a full apartment instead of a hotel room with children. The negatives are the pool is overcrowded by noon, the elevators are overtaxed and shut down several times on our trip.

This building was designed as a residence, but is mostly weekly rentals, so there are no ice machines, not enough elevators and the pool area is simply not big enough to accommodate all of the weekly vacationers and their families. We will probably opt for a house next year, but it is a nice building. Probably best to visit here not in high season.

Spend Thanksgiving in N. Myrtle Beach with family. South Shore Villas has become our go to location. Unit 707 offers 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and works well for a travelling family to have their own space. The unit was updated with new carpet and upholstery in 2012 and is very comfortable. The kitchen is well equiped and made preparing Thanksgiving dinner a breeze. The only complaint is the unit above must have tile flooring throughout. The occupants dragged furniture across the floor all hours of the day and night. Glad that our time only overlapped for two nights. A week of that would be annoying. We have typically found South Shore Villas to be very quiet. This was unusual.

Room Tip: Unit 707 is an end unit and has great light and views south and east.

In July our family spent a lovely week at South Shore Villas in North Myrtle Beach. We were extremely pleased with Unit 1202 ... a three bedroom/three bathroom unit. We had a very smooth sign-in process and were able to check in early. The multi-level parking garage at this complex is terrific! At other condo complexes there is usually only one assigned parking space per condo. Not here. We never had to worry about finding a parking space at South Shore Villas because there are four levels of unassigned parking spaces. Plenty of room!

We really enjoyed Unit 1202. We had rented linens, but were delighted to find that the owners provided extra pillows, blankets, dish towels, etc. The kitchen is really well-stocked. No matter what type of meal we prepared, we never lacked the right pot/pan/cooking utensil. We laughed one night when we used a large fork to mash potatoes. When we were putting the dishes away that evening, there was an electric mixer on a shelf right in front of our eyes. Just look around...you'll find what you need. Oh...one other item regarding supplies: The owners of Unit 1202 are very generous in leaving a lot of cleaning supplies for guests. It saved us from having to go to a store and buy these items.

We had three generations at the condo and each one of us enjoyed South Shore Villas for various reasons. Grandparents liked relaxing on the large balcony; parents enjoyed the easy access to the beach; and the grandchildren kept busy the entire week! We plan on returning next year and hope to rent the same unit.

One tip for parents: Many people were shining laser lights onto the beach at night time. So we bought one for our grandkids on our last night at the condo. We were surprised when a security cop knocked on our door and gave us a warning. Children are not allowed to buy or use green laser lights in Myrtle Beach and the parents can be fined. They should post signs regarding this new ruling since so many of us are from out of state.
