Great place to meet new friends and rub elbows with excellent food with all kinds of people. Location is excellent. Sit;s on the waterway with an excellent view of boats coming and going. Motorcycle friendly.

Great location on the Waterway near the old swing bridge. Very biker friendly. We used to go there all the time, but they allow smoking in the outdoor area even though it's mostly enclosed & they are not subject to North Myrtle's No Smoking ordinance. When they stop smoking altogether we will go back.

We heard about Captain Poos from a friend and decided to try it on a Friday night while visiting Cherry Grove Beach. Suggest that you DON'T use your GPS to find it because it won't get you there. Call or look at a map. Its under the Rt 9/17 bridge that spans the inter-coastal waterway. Great little bar with really cheerful, friendly servers! There is a lively room with a bar in the back (where smokers gather) that was teeming with people--but we ate at the bar. Had perhaps the best nachos at the beach (two of us could not eat it all), some good wings and delicious seafood chowder. All is reasonably priced and the beer is cold--and we were there during happy hour when prices were good and the clientele were happy!. It looks to be a locals place (and word has it they sorta want to keep it that way) but if you're looking for inexpensive eats in a non formal atmosphere--go. Friday was busier than a Sunday eve (we returned to try it again but they were out of a lot of menu items--this is our only negative comment). No frills, just good reasonably priced food and attentive service.

We arrived at Captain Poo's around 5:15 on a Tuesday in November and the parking lot was packed! We grabbed one of two parking spots left and probably the last three bar seats available at the inside bar. Smoking was allowed on the outside bar which was enclosed with tarp and plastic for the chilly weather.

We had cold draught beers and appetizers which were half-priced for happy hour. Two dozen delicious, fresh oysters, a basket of hush puppies, about a dozen wings, two tacos and four beers came to only $34 including tax.

A winner for sure and I'll return whether happy hour or not!

This is North Myrtle Beach's hidden jewel located on the Inter-coastal waterway which is a local favorite. They have daily specials and on Friday's they have an outstanding flounder dinner for $7.00. You can dine outside or inside and in the evenings they have entertainment. But the food is outstanding and extremely reasonable. I recommend the "Manhatten
Clam Chowder" and the flounder and in season the oyster's on the half shell are dynamite.
dress is beach, bike, casual but tux in not recommended. You can dine, drink and watch the yacht's sail by.
