“Fair deal for the price”

Ok...so we're not dealing with a 5-star hotel here. But you're also not paying 5-star prices. It was basically what you'd expect of a 1-star hotel--nothing more, nothing less. It was reasonably clean and the breakfast had typical econo-continental offerings (muffins, biscuits, cereal, coffee, juice). The quality of the linens were low--thin towels--but the bed was comfortable. My fiance and I stayed here in March when we went mountain biking at Francis Marion. We were already in the frame of mind for "roughing" it a little and this hotel suited us fine. We're returning over Labor Day weekend for more biking and staying here again.

I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice clean place to stay without being overcharged!!! Easy access to all of Charleston's attractions, restaurants, gas stations, and beaches. Rooms have been remolded with large fridge, coffee makers, and hair dryers. Large Pool. Great continnental breakfast: biscuits, eggs, sausage, gravy, waffels, muffins, bagles, cereal, milk, fruit, coffee. Internet access in front lobby with printer. Fresh baked cookies when you arrive. And to top it off a great friendly staff. I wish someone would have posted this information before I booked another hotel online only to be disappointed and had to drive around for 3 hours before I found this great one.

UNBELIEVABLE. A word of warning for other travelers to North Charleston: avoid the Super 8 at I-26 and Ashley Phosphate Road until a decent standard of service is restored. At present, it is appalling. Here is the text of my feedback to the Super 8 organization based on a recent stay:<<You seriously need to reconsider the franchise granted to this operator. We have rarely stayed in such as substandard motel. We have seven specific complaints about this franchisee, and we are not alone, because the topic came up spontaneously in the "breakfast room" as other guests vented about it. The standard overall was appalling. The first problem was with the reservation. The rate quoted by a female receptionist over the the phone (my wife called the hotel directly, not through the 800 number) was not the rate noted at the front desk. Mr.Anil Gupta I think he was the owner or manager - was actually fairly hostile at the idea that we had been offered a lower rate than quoted. He grumbled about "a new girl who is still in training." However, he did give us the rate quoted by phone. The second problem was that the room stank. It was incredibly musty and stale - as if mold was deep in the carpet. When we entered the room, the damp basement smell nearly knocked us over; the AC was not on, so we turned it on full blast (it was a very warm night) to try to tame the stink. We chose to tough it out rather than go somewhere else because it was late and we'd been driving all day. When we mentioned it at check-out the next morning, the girl said something very close to "yes, they're not our best rooms back there. We have a lot of construction workers, and they don't treat the rooms with respect." AS IF THATS AN EXCUSE!The third problem was that at least one of the light bulbs in the room was out. Mr. Gupta came and replaced it.The fourth problem was that the toilet tank ran for a long time before shut-off.The fifth problem was that the TV remote did not work; plus, there was a junked TV beside it.The sixth problem? The pool was filthy - the water cloudy and milky and very unhealthy-feeling. My kids got out almost as soon as they got in, and I'm very glad they did.And there was a seventh problem: breakfast. Not only did it not exactly live up to its billing as a deluxe continental breakfast corn flakes, coffee, juice and a couple of muffins but you had to go to one room for the cereal, then out to the lobby for milk, then back to the little dining room. Meanwhile, the receptionist was buried in her novel in a chair in the lobby.Never in all my time staying in Super 8s and other motel chains have I experienced such substandard operations. It's a disgrace to your whole franchise. You MUST do something about it.I hope you can soon improve things for other guests staying at that motel. I will not be back there.>>
