“Nice staff, free breakfast and drinks”
Reviewed September 20, 2009

Great hotel, clean, roomy, staff really nice and helpful. Gives great info on the city and where to go and what to see. Charleston is a beautiful town. This place offers a full made to order breakfast, and complimentary drinks in the bar. That saves some money for them having this offer. I would recommend this place. I would love to go back next year

Our family vacation was completely ruined due to our stay at the Quality Inn in Charleston, South Carolina. We checked in on June 26, 2009 in the late afternoon. As a family, we decided to drive into downtown Charleston & Folly Beach, so we did not take a close look at our room. We did notice that the extra bed/sleeper sofa we had requested in the king-handicap room was not there. We decided not to waste much time, and take care of the situation when we returned later that night.
Once we returned, we noticed many things. The hotel was extremely dirty. There were stains on the furniture and flooring, holes in the walls, molding (carpet) was peeling away from the walls, the plug in the bath tub was not working, and the air conditioning was making a terrible noise. Also, the room had an awful odor that appeared to smell like mildew. We decide to try to use the pool, only to find the pool was extremely dirty.
We were planning on living through the terrible mess of the hotel, but things only started to get worse. We never received the extra bed, so one family member was going to sleep in a chair in the room. So, we went to the front office where we requested a blanket, only to find an attendant became very rude. She told us we could not receive an extra blanket because we did not have an extra bed. We proceeded to explain that we requested an extra bed, and never received it. We even showed her on paper where it said we were supposed to have had an extra bed in out room. She then went on to tell us we should be happy with what we got because we were only using our points to pay for the room. We explained that we had to earn the Choice Points, and we would like what we requested. She then continued to be rude and told us it would be a $20 fee. As she proceeded becoming ruder, she requested to swipe our credit card once again. We refused to let her, because early when we checked in, the attendant already swiped the card for any chargers that would occur.
We then went back to our room, and tired to make it through the night so we could speak with either the owner or manger the next morning. We hardly got any sleep because the hotel was so noisy. People were outside our room all night making all sorts of noise. When we spoke to the owner the next morning he was just as rude as the people he had working for him. We then proceed by calling the Choice Points Customer Service number. We were put on hold, and ended up staying on the phone with them for over four hours. The situation was still not clear up. One family member was a sever cause of multiple sclerosis, and became so stressed that he almost had to be taken to the hospital. He’s nerves are still tore up to this day, June 29, 2009. Our entire vacation was ruined because by the time we got off the phone half the day was already gone, and we were only staying two nights. By this time, we decided not to stay in the hotel any longer, and proceeded to return home.

Excellent quality for the price. The room was clean and smelled good (very important!). Front desk staff was friendly even though they were very busy. Breakfast was good. Location was also good, with several other hotels close-by. Great location--close to convention center and an easy hop onto the highway to get to downtown Charleston. I would definitely stay there again.

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever seen. Our company booked this hotel. The room smelled and the carpet was filthy. The clerk was rude. There was no one in the parking lot which should have given us a clue that it was terrible. We just could not spend a night there.

Hotel has no interior corridors--twice during our one night stay there we had someone trying to break into our room--front desk refused to do anything about it and second time we called down, two hours after first incident was not answering phone. The surrounding area is not good: trailer homes, smashed windows, broken autos, etc. We were very uncomfortable here. I contacted Quality Inn main office to discuss this and so far, two weeks later have had no response. Be
very careful, if you choose to stay here and do not expect much.

If you are considering visiting Charleston, do not stay at the Quality Inn in North Charleston. When I made reservation, a month ahead, I specifically reserved a NON SMOKING room. When we arrived late Friday night, the room smelled like an ash tray. I called the front desk and their response was "We overbooked and this was the only room available. Would you like some deodorizing spray?". They never brought the spray to our room. What are reservations good for if you don't get what you reserve????Then, my husband hung our coats on the shelf and the whole shelf fell. The next morning, we made arrangements with the front desk to switch to a non smoking room. The new room was not clean yet, so we packed our stuff in our car and visited Charleston. Later that night when we returned back to the hotel, we were astonished to find out that they did not switch our rooms and unbelievably gave our non smoking room away again. The two employees working the night shift were absolutely no help and seemed to be aggravated with us for requesting to switch rooms, which we reserved in the first place. Needless to say, we checked out and my husband drove 3 hours back home during the middle of the night.

I travel to the North Charleston/Summerville location a few times a year for business, and this property will not be seeing me again.
When I was checking in, the front desk was on the phone with a customer that was lost, and they were very rude to them. After they finished the phone call, they continued to complain about "how stupid tourists are". What a great first impression!
As for the room itself - the toilet, which leaked, ran all night long. The TV reception was fuzzy or "snowy". The carpet has sticky food all around the desk area.
And, on top of all of that, there was a bunch of teenagers running up and down the parking lot screaming until midnight. Of course the front desk personell just didn't care.
I do have to say, however, that once I was able to get back to sleep, the bed was very, very comfortable.
